Larry A. Ryle High School MOS Course Has a Successful Year
Students in the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) course offered by the Business Department of Ryle High School have earned multiple MOS certifications during the 2011-12 school year. These certifications are internationally recognized as indicators of Microsoft Office suite program proficiency. Students have the opportunity to test in the areas of Microsoft Office 2010 for Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access. A student is deemed career ready and industry certified once he/she has earned three of the four certifications. This year, sixty-three students earned all four certificates, which is a school record.  For a full list of students who earned all four certificates, click here.

Consulate of Mexico visits Ockerman Elementary

On May 10th, Consul Juan Manuel Solana, Consulate of Mexico, Indianapolis, visited Ockerman Elementary to present a Spanish collection of books to the students and staff for their library.  The collection included books that are traditionally read by students in Mexico at the elementary grade levels.  This donation was initiated by a former student of Ockerman Middle and graduate of Boone County High School, who now attends Northern Kentucky University.  Through her involvement with the Latino Student Affairs Office, she was able to help make this generous donation possible.

Consul Solana told a group of Latino students and parents, "These books are meant to be read, used, played with, and not left on a shelf".  He encouraged the students to learn as many languages as possible in their lifetime.
