Messages and Updates from Ms. Bernat
Parking Lot and Playground Use
As we announced in December, in accordance with our "conditional building use permit," we are required to use our parking lot after school for cars only. Children need to use the neighborhood parks for after school play.
Additionally, the playground in the parking lot is reserved only for students who are participating in the after school programs offered at PVS.
Please do not allow your child to play in the playground after school unless they are registered in an after school program.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Morning Drop-Off Request
The morning drop-off routine in our parking lot has been going well. I appreciate those of you who diligently follow the guidelines, driving through, and stopping only at the east entrance to the upper grades building and/or the entrance to the lower grades building.
I have one request to help keep our children safe: please do not allow your child to get out of the car on the left side of the car. This allows children to step into the roadway where cars may be moving. As in a street, please have your children get out of the car on the "sidewalk side", or right side of the car only.
Thank you!

Request for PVS Yearbook Photos
Dear PVS Parents and Community,
I am asking for pictures of school events to use for the yearbook. Please send in a CD with 5-10 high quality photos per event. Blank CD's are available in the office if you don't have any at home. Please use the highest resolution and thanks for submitting pictures of a wide variety of kids.

THE IMPORTANCE OF HANDWASHING - A FRIENDLY REMINDER!
A request to all parents/guardians to help us out by encouraging your children to wash their hands frequently during the school day.
Nothing prevents illness better than a good hand-washing! So, please help us by reminding your child or children to thoroughly wash their hands after coming in from recess, before snack and lunch, and after any event that includes a lot of hand-to-hand interaction (such as games, assemblies, folkdancing, etc.).
Thanks!

Support the Portland Village School Spring Benefit Auction
Volunteers still needed!
Auction planning is moving along nicely, but we still need more volunteers. Please consider signing up to help with procurement, raffles, or decoration. We just need a few more people to join these committees to make things run smoothly for all.
Please email Aarin Lutzenhiser ( aarin@mac.com) with any questions about what is needed and how you can help. Calling on PVS food connections!
The auction has been lucky enough to rely on PVS parents to cater, donate substantial food, and supplies for the past several years. This year, we need to search for new resources within our school and local community. We would very much appreciate input from anyone with connections to restaurants, caterers, farms, etc. This will be for substantial appetizers and "finger food", not a sit-down meal. It is likely that we will be paying for this service, but would love to make it a 'win-win' for the community. Please contact Krista Wheeler ( krista@spiritone.com) with your leads and recommendations. Thank you! |

THE LAST DANCE
Our last Family Folk Dance of the year will be on Friday, March 2nd, 6:30 - 8:30pm in the folk dance area of PVS. It will include a raffle and bake sale. Please mark your calendars and enjoy a fun evening with family and friends. Live music and all dances taught, as usual.
Requested donation: $4 individual or $12 per family - no one turned away for lack of funds. This is a fundraiser for the performing troupe, Sussefusse, with a percentage of the money going back to PVS. Watch for more details, soon.
My apologies to all those families who have been waiting patiently for the CD's. I will get them done.
Thanks, so much for your interest.
Fondly, Heidi |
