| Looking back at 2011, and ahead to 2012

A Letter to the open source communications community from eZuce, CEO, Martin Steinmann:
With New Year's day approaching fast it is the time of the year to reflect back on all we accomplished in 2011 and it is also the time to set new goals.
2011 was an important and critical year for sipXecs / openUC. We have proven that we reached critical mass and fulfill the requirements for both small and large enterprise communications and collaboration systems. We crossed the chasm and deliver value to IT organizations wanting a software application and not a legacy system. We took scalability way beyond small enterprise and created a robust system that can be deployed as a geographically distributed cluster, and we moved our solution into the cloud leveraging Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). Our SSOA architecture has proven superior not only compared to legacy systems, but also compared to more recent designs from e.g. Microsoft and Cisco. As one CIO of a large organization put it: "Rebuilding a large Cisco CM cluster takes months of planning and work and with openUC we have done it in an afternoon", and another one: "Building a geographically distributed load-sharing cluster is simply not possible with Microsoft Lync, but works easily with openUC".

| SipX- CoLab Announces Engineering Hackfest 2012!
 Have you ever wanted to contribute back to the sipXecs project? Would you like to meet with the SIPfoundry Engineering Team to share your ideas and recommendations for our sipXecs development efforts?
This is the opportunity you've been looking for. We're organizing a sipXecs Hackfest on March 6th during the second day of our sipX-CoLab conference.
Goal: During the sipXecs Hackfest we will collaborate on our coding efforts, energize our development team and discuss how to raise visibility for our open source project and its mission. The goal is to make sipXecs V4.6 the most reliable version of our spectacular open unified communications solution. We will assemble our core team from around the globe on site to work with our volunteers and contribute to our solution with bug fixes or by adding new features. You will also learn and share development best practices, knowledge and insights to further our collective efforts in enhancing sipXecs for all users.
