A Gartner study finds large businesses are accelerating use of social media for customer service and brand management with 30% planning to adopt it over the next 24 months...

Enterprises are embracing social customer relationship management (CRM) software, with four in 10 leading businesses expected to adopt this technology within five years as part of their ongoing efforts to improve customer service, according to Gartner.

Open Source Software Hits a Strategic Tipping Point
I thought I would pass on a great article that just appeared in the Harvard Bopensourceusiness Review this morning on Open Source in the Enterprise market space. It seems that that there has been a dramatic change from five years ago, when a Gartner survey found that the amount of open source software in an organizations' portfolios was less than 10 percent. Now, across that same period, they've seen the proportion of proprietary software decrease at about the same rate that open source software has increased, and that during the next 18 months the number will continue to rise when you judge the opex and capex your Enterprise can save. read more...
