The beginning of the 2010-2011 school year has been a great success. With students entering our school buildings in August, they returned to staff members who were eager to serve the needs of our youth. Building facilities and classroom materials were well prepared for the incoming students.
Communication is of high importance to our employees in Itasca School District, as well as our School Board members. In an effort to share information with our community members, this electronic newsletter will be distributed several times each year through the use of e-mail addresses. By having this means of communication, we will have the ability to inform our families of important events as they occur.
Students in Itasca School District continue to score well on assessments mandated by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE). The tests measure the performance of students and schools throughout Illinois. As in the past several years, more than 90% of the students in Itasca School District attained the standards as measured by these assessments. We are very proud of our students' scores.
Staff members in our schools continue to focus on meeting the academic instructional needs of our students. To attain this goal, the district's employees are utilizing a strategy entitled "Response to Intervention" (RtI). With the assistance from building principals and teachers, teams of staff members work together to analyze each student's attainment of skills as measured through a variety of assessments. From this analysis of data, educational opportunities are identified that enhance a student's learning.
As educators, we realize that families are an important component of every student's educational experience. Our intent is to work collaboratively together in order to maximize each student's potential.
