Primary Pageant Invitation

Families are warmly invited to watch this year's Primary Pageant. This pageant will show some of the many parables the Lord told while He was on earth. Seeing these stories acted out by the young children in the primary is a delightful and precious experience.
The pageant will begin at 11:15
on Friday, November 4th, in the gyms.
Please be seated before the start of the pageant. Children will be dismissed from classrooms at 12:15.

The last Friday of every month we invite all our volunteers to a "Thank You" coffee in our volunteer community room. Every one is invited, even if you have not had an opportunity to volunteer yet. It is a chance to connect with others in our school and find out about ways you may be able to help. Please come this Friday, October 28th, anytime between 11:00 - 12:00. Delicious snacks provided!

Thanks to First Grade Parents!

We were treated to a snack-day this week. Thank you to the parents of our 1st graders. We enjoyed a beautiful display of all sorts of goodies, fruits, baked items, and snacks on Wednesday, and as usual the faculty and staff enjoyed the spread. The few leftover bits always disappear quickly the next day. Thanks so much, from BACS faculty and staff.

Sustaining New Church Education-BACS Strategic Planning Discussion Oct. 27, 7:30

Parents shared what they value about our school at a BACS Strategic Planning discussion last Friday. Two thoughts of parent appreciation touched me: students "know that other people in the school love them" and the Bryn Athyn Church provides "really generous financial aid." Our deep affection for children resides at the heart of our school's purpose. We fervently believe, especially in these financially turbulent times, that we must seek ways to sustain children's access to the school's loving environment.
But what does it mean for BACS to be sustainable? This is a question we've been asking ourselves. A definition of sustainable practices that comes to us from The Bruntland Commission of the United Nations is "practices that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs." In other words, what should we be doing now so that current students experience the same degree of love as their grandchildren? What can we do so that, regardless of their financial situation, these grandchildren can afford to attend BACS? This invites difficult question about how we will ensure the ongoing existence of our culture of affection for the Lord and how we will fund New Church education over time.
Determining how we will be sustainable over time is no small chore. Developing answers to these big questions will require our collective wisdom and a commitment to our future. I invite you to join us for a BACS Strategic Planning discussion in our Library; Thursday, October 27 at 7:30 PM for a continuation of this conversation as we grapple with these difficult questions.
