It's one of my theories that when people give advice, they're really just talking to themselves in the past.
The other day I received a piece of advice from one of my mentors:
"Start strategically simplifying your life."
To which I replied: "How lovely... and how the hell would I do that?"
She broke down the first two steps for me by saying:
Step 1) Step BACK... WAY BACK. We often get blind sighted by the monotony of our daily grind at home and work causing us to form tunnel vision around our life's direction and the direction we want to be going in. It is so powerful to step back from the continuity of your routine and allow yourself the space to think about what's most important to you and what you really want in life. Buddha did it for several months.
