Greetings!
What an incredibly challenging past few weeks it has been! As I travel from class to class, I noticed a great deal of students sharing in the hardships of an ever changing time. Interestingly enough, a lot of incredible revelations come out of hardships.
One of them is my most recent blog: "How We View Ourselves: Self Awareness & The Social Mirror". Take a look:
"How you view yourself affects not only your behaviors and
attitudes but also how you view others. In fact, until you take a
closer look at yourself- and how you see others- you cannot truly
become aware of your own intentions and behaviors.
In yoga we
learn to cultivate self-awareness, compassion and non-judgment through
our pranayama (breathwork) and asanas (poses). These are life long
values that take time and patience to develop and oddly enough they
will always be a lifelong challenge. Life off the mat has taught me a
great deal about how challenging it can be to develop self-awareness.
Self-awareness is the ability to choose your response to any given
situation no matter the circumstances.
With Mercury recently in retrograde, everything seemed to
be falling apart and the tricks of the mind judged my every thought and
action. "People are going to think you are irresponsible and lazy. You
never get enough done." "This is so simple, why can't you understand
this?" "Maybe you're not good enough."
