A great question that I frequently ask my patients is "If you could change one thing about your health, what would that be?"
I love that question for a few reasons. First, it gets us all to really think about our health. In addition, it allows me an opportunity to offer some solutions that you might not think a chiropractor would have. And finally, it offers a solid goal.
Our bodies have numerous ways to tell us that we are in a state of dis-ease. This could manifest as poor sleep, poor digestion and elimination, fatigue, depression and anxiety, or aches and pains. It could also show up as osteoporosis, high cholesterol, PMS, chronic fatigue, migraines or any number of diagnosis that describe a condition but not a cause. Our tendency is to blame everything on age.
Many problems can be cured or alleviated with targeted exercise, changes in our diet, specific nutritional interventions, and some bodywork. The first thing we need to do is to acknowledge the problem, create a game plan to address the causes, and finally, monitor for change. We also need to be willing to change some aspect of our lifestyle. I love Einstein's definition of insanity which is to do the same thing and expect a different outcome. It could be some aspect of our diet in the form of an imbalance or deficiency, a structural weakness or tightness or, tougher to diagnose, a negative thought pattern we can't shake which needs to change.
If you have a health concern that is not being addressed by your primary physician and are/or are interested in some complementary therapies, give the office a call. Together, we can set a clear goal and have a plan of action to achieve that goal.
Until next time, be well.
