In The Know: Herbal Incense - Fake MarijuanaHerbal Incense brochure 

This brochure discusses the dangerous new class of drugs being sold as harmless incense. It speaks specifically about the forms of synthetic THC and exposes the deceptive techniques used to market these products, the dangers of inhaling untested chemicals, effects of marijuana-like intoxication, and the potential long-term dangers to mental and physical health.

 

Marijuana: Neurochemistry & Physiology

Designed to be used in a group or clinical setting, this objective, non-judgmental DVD presents the latest research and findings on the neurochemistry and physiology of marijuana. Issues of tolerance and dependence, withdrawal, acute psychic effects, and physical effects are highlighted.

This display board contains information

on the new synthetic drug known as spice or K2. The main points include awareness to the drugs street names, what spice looks like, the side effects of abusing spice and prevention strategies.

K2: Fake Marijuana Can Be Dangerous to Kids Health

K2 is known as fake pot or fake marijuana and sold with brand names like K2 Blonde, K2 Summit, Spice, Spice Gold, Spice Silver, Spice Diamond, Zohai, Yucatan Fire and Genie and other names. Store owners have said kids are buying so much that they cannot keep it on the shelves. K2 is herbs or spices sprayed with a synthetic product like JWH-018 to supposedly give a high similar to marijuana.

Just Think Twice

Just Think Twice, created by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), is an online resource that provides teens with accurate information about drugs. A Just Think Twice teacher's guide for grades 6-12 was developed around the website and is available to download here.

 

Be A Jerk Campaign

The City & County of Honolulu has launched an environmental prevention grassroots campaign called "Be a Jerk" that focuses on reducing alcohol accessibility and changing aspects of the environment that contribute to the use of alcohol by youth. These aspects include alcohol messages targeted at youth by alcohol industry, underage drinking related policies and more. This campaign is funded through SAMHSA's SPF-SIG to prevent underage drinking.

 

Talking Teen Drinking: MADD and Emergency Room Doctors Release Handbook for Parents

The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) have developed and released a new, free handbook as part of MADD's "Power of Parents, It's Your Influence" campaign. The handbook aims to help parents begin a conversation about underage drinking with their children.
