"Best Sailing Experience Ever"
Our new dealer in Chile, Jorge Gordillo, was actually helping his father find a monohull to purchase when they had the opportunity to test a WindRider 17 while vacationing in San Diego. They liked the experience so much, they decided to become our dealers in Santiago. A container of WR17's, some already sold, will arrive in Santiago, Chile this month.
New Subject at WindRider Forum WindRider owners appreciate multihulls as a preferred sailing vessel. The WindRider Forum, administered by Kim Haubert (for whom we should all thank regularly) has started a new section for those new to WindRider and even those new to sailing. It is called " Sailing for Tender Sailors" and it is designed to share experiences of those new to sailing. Here is a recent quote from one of our owners in Australia:
"You can't beat the 17 for making the crew feel secure. I just stopped sailing cats last year, and during my last season my new (non-boating) wife came down to watch and was invited out on the rescue boat. A storm blew out of nowhere and we had about an hour of 35 knots, which made for a very busy rescue boat. The boat driver frightened her so badly that I cant get her onto any motor boat smaller than about 50 foot. I bought the WR17 last year and now she comes out with me anytime, last time 25 knots with jib furled and main reefed she just sat snug as a bug behind her windshield laughing about the spray. Love that WR17." Paul M (Australia)

The new 2011 WR16 has a new 24 foot carbon fiber mast which comes standard. It can be purchased as a replacement part for your older WR16 - just email me. A quote from a WOW Rally attendee:
"The new rig so improved the performance of the 16 that those of us who have owned and loved our older 16's were simply stunned. That boat with that rig performed like no other WR16...PERIOD!" Joe M (St. Petersburg)

WOW Rally a BIG Success
 | | Jim Brown with a fleet of WindRiders |
Thank you to 30 WindRider owners for coming to Sarasota in October for fun on the water and on land. And thanks to special guest Jim Brown who entertained, educated and inspired us with his commitment to providing anyone the opportunity to enjoy the experience of sailing. Jim gave a live narrated video presentation of "History of the Multihulls" and autographed copies of his book.

WindRider had a class all to itself for those who wanted to try racing, plus, there were trips to the Tiki Bar (boats pulled up on the beach there), a photo scavenger hunt around Sarasota Bay and sharing ideas for customizing a WR17. It was a very busy and very fun weekend and we look forward to more gatherings of WindRider owners.
See more photos here and be sure to mark your calendar for October 18-20, 2012 for the next Sarasota based WindRider Owners' Weekend, or WOW Rally.

WindRider 17 Storage System (bags and holders)
At the WOW Rally we got to see how people customize their boats. Because cruising, or just spending a full day on the water, is very popular, storage of gear is paramount. Here is a complete storage system of bags and pockets and holders to keep everything you carry on your boat in a handy, out-of-the-way place.
Tracks, which attach to the insides of your WR17 and a soft shelf in the bow form the basis of your storage system so you can pack for an entire weekend and still have room for you and your co-captain (and deckhands on the trampolines of course).
Individual bags, cases, straps and holders can be customized for your unique storage needs.
What a great Christmas Gift for yourself or your favorite sailing companion!

WR Club - Travel and connect with a WindRider
It has been recommended that a "Club" of WindRider owners be formed such that when you travel, you might connect with other WindRider owners and have the opportunity to sail. For instance, maybe you have always dreamed of visiting Sweden (see the WindRider in the harbor to the right), and now you can connect with another WindRider owner and ask to use his/her boat while you are there. Better yet, go sailing together and make friends all over the world.
We will be sending out a survey shortly to help determine how this new WR Club should be organized and managed. Here is a recent video from Holland which makes you feel like you are out for a relaxing afternoon sail. But who knows, next year maybe you can be there yourself.
