Tuesday, December 6, 6:30-9 pm. Thinking about making some changes around the house? Bring your design challenges to the Library! Come meet a colorful panel of North Shore Designers who will share their expertise & excitement about home design projects with you! Here's how it works: Workshop participants are invited to bring photos of a single project -a room, an exterior facade, or an outdoor area- that they would like to fix. Our experts are here to strategize with you about color, design, space, interiors, exteriors, gardens, sustainability, re-sale value and more. You can meet on a one-to-one basis with as many people as are relevant to your project. Panel experts include Architects, an Architectural Designer, an Architectural Color Designer, Interior Designers, a Custom Soft Furnisher, Landscape Designers, a Landscape Architect, a Sustainability Coordinator, and a Real Estate Professional.  This workshop opportunity is free of charge and open to the public.

Study Finds Reading 'Stress Reducing'
Now we have the facts to back us up! Our Young Adult Librarian, Kim Claire, passed around this article titled 'Percy Jackson is My Therapist'
with a tagline "If you need some recommendations, you know where to find me."  The blogger, Melissa Taylor, prefers reading Young Adult novels for its escapist qualities, quick reading investment, and sharper distinction between good and evil.

Nanowrimo Concludes

Saturday Write-Ins at the library kicked off with a bang when eleven intrepid local novelists attended the Nov. 5th Write-In.  Average attendance has been about eight people per write-in.  Participants have written diversely, though there is a definite trend toward historical fiction titles, including historical fantasy and mystery, with locales and eras spanning Ancient Rome, Victorian England and the American Civil War.  Other genres include literary fiction, business fiction, fictionalized family memoir, and one eco-sci-fi novel for children.  Some writers produced up to 3,000 words in a single session as they wrote alongside their fellow novelists. That's about 12 pages in the average book!  Many writers were well on the way to reaching their goal of 50,000 words in a month - just slightly longer than F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby.

Join us next November to write your own novel at the Hamilton-Wenham Library!
