Greetings!
As we come to the end of another school year, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities has much to celebrate. Since September, the success of our program work was featured in a book and a national webinar, we were recognized by the Urban League of Hampton Roads and the Valentine Richmond History Center, and our outreach has received unprecedented press coverage. Thank you for your support and partnership!
That said, the economy continues to make it challenging to sustain our program efforts. If you have benefitted from and support the work of VCIC, will you become a Partner for Inclusion to support our continued growth?
Our next update will be sent in September. As you plan for the the 2012-2013 school year, please let us know how VCIC can partner with you to build more inclusive, affirming, and just school communities. Contact our office by phone at (804) 515-7950 or by emailing Jonathan Zur, President & CEO, Allison Conyers, Director of Education & Training, or Trey Hartt, Development & Program Coordinator. |
PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT
Diversity Dialogue Day
This year's Diversity Dialogue Day forums were incredibly successful! With appreciation to sponsor Dominion Resources, VCIC is pleased to share our 2011-2012 Final Report.
Diversity Dialogue Day is a one-day forum for high school students that takes participants through a process of awareness-to-action. Students learn to recognize prejudice and intolerance, and to respect others. Trained facilitators guide the students through small group learning activities that explore personal experiences with discrimination and develop conflict resolution skills. At the conclusion of the forum, participants develop strategies for increasing awareness and promoting inclusion within their schools. For more information about Diversity Dialogue Day, contact Trey. |
