OUR MISSION

The Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities conducts programs that promote understanding and respect on ALL issues of diversity, for ALL age groups, ALL across Virginia.

Greetings!

A recent report notes that over 90,000 students in Virginia schools were suspended or expelled in the 2011-2012 school year.  More striking, while black males make up only 12% of the overall student population, they account for 40% of all suspensions and expulsions.

To counteract this trend, the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities has proudly worked with school districts to improve climates for students of all backgrounds.  One district in particular recently cited "a culture of inclusiveness" as a reason that suspensions or expulsions have been reduced.

Please contact our office by phone at (804) 515-7950 or by emailing Ali Thompson, Director of Education & Training, or Jonathan Zur, President & CEO, so we can partner with you to build more inclusive, affirming, and just school communities!
