Custom Glass Signs & Mirror | Great Glasswerk
As we mentioned last week, as proud partners of our customers' glass work, we at Glasswerks actively celebrate the projects we've helped realize, such as this ornate custom glass sign by Custom Glass
Signs & Mirror of San Diego, CA.
Fabrication: Roderick Treece, Owner of Custom Glass Signs & Mirro r, produced the sign in just four weeks. Roderick noted how this particular sign posed several fabrication challenges: Its custom shape and necessary application of a hidden mounting backing board required him to use several different techniques on one relatively small piece.
Location: This sign was custom built for a private residence in Upstate New York.
Specs: Glasswerks supplied and carefully cut the 1/4" Clear Glass to the desired unique shape, finishing it off with a polished edge. (Read more about our Custom Fabrication).
If you want to feature your latest Great Glasswerk in an upcoming issue, please send us an email at glasswerks@glasswerks.com. We look forward to sharing with our readers your recent project using
Glasswerks glass!

Bagua Mirror | Feng Shui & Mirrors: 3 Quick Fixes to Common Interior Design Dilemmas
Feng Shui is an "ancient Chinese system of aesthetics," its origins said to date back over 3,500 years ago. Today, it is most popularly used as an design discipline aimed to create and maintain good Qi (ch'i) - or "energy".
Some view Feng Shui as a mere superstition; however, there are practical mirror placement solutions which align with current interior design principles worth noting. Used wisely, mirrors can provide the quick fix for the most common design dilemmas, balancing a room's color, light, and/or energy.
Here are 3 Feng Shui Fixes Using Mirrors:
1) Cure Irregular Spaces and Stagnant Areas Have an awkward nook too angular to fit a desk, or a dark corner formed by an irregularly shaped hallway? In Feng Shui, irregular spaces and stagnant areas cause energy traps, blocking the healthy flow of energy throughout the area. The remedy? Most Feng Shui practitioners and designers agree, the strategic placement of a mirror can create the illusion of space in a small space and add life to dull corners.
2) Troubleshoot Poor Desk Placement
Have you ever found yourself so focused on a task that once interrupted you were not only distracted, but startled by the disruption? This is precisely why Feng Shui warns against keeping one's back to the entrance of the room, reasoning that not knowing who might be approaching from behind creates a sense of insecurity. If this is so, simply hanging a mirror at eye-level on the wall will allow one to view an approaching guest, as well as provide
the illusion of space.
3) Liven Long Boring Corridors
Long narrow hallways can feel lifeless and confining without any designtouches; in Feng Shui, they are believed to cause Qi to move too fast through the area. Hanging mirrors in a staggered position along the walls of a hallway can slow down the flow of energy, as well as reflect light and imagery into the corridor. Substituting wardrobe doors with mirror facades may also help break up the dullness of a long hallway.
