December 2010

Tanti Auguri!

Greetings!

'Tis the season to be bustling! It's hard to believe we will soon be in Florence seeing out the old year and seeing in the new with our first group of 2011.

We know you are busy too but we hope you will take a few moments to register for the wine of the month, Adami  Prosecco Vigneto Giardino, and see the Pavarotti and company videos embedded in the "Winter in Florence" article below.

Do take some holiday time for nodding by the fire and dreaming of  Italy in the spring and summer.  It would be a good time to register for one of our trips.  You could even make it an unforgettable gift for someone unforgettable to you.

Most of all we want to wish you and yours a very happy holiday, best wishes for the new year and, for us all, Peace on Earth.

Tu Scendi dalle Stelle
In the spirit of the holiday,  from this particular Befana , here's a favorite Italian Christmas carol, Tu Scendi dalle Stelle, a carol that derives from a Sicilian shepherds' song.  I hPiazza Signoria Decemberave included a link to O Soave Fanciulla from La Boheme for no particular reason other than it is my favorite and every time I hear it, no matter how often, it reminds me of the ever present possibility of finding the miraculous when we least expect it. I suppose that has everything to do with the season as well as with being in Italy. More

Adami Prosecco Vigneto Giardino 2009

A vintage Prosecco?  Certo! Adami has been around the Prosecco game for almost a century now and have been one of the leading producers of Prosecco since their first purchase of the Giardino vineyard way back when. This wine is sourced 100% from the same vineyard, making it one of the only single-vineyard Proseccos around.

"The 2009 Prosecco Dry Superiore Vigneto Giardino is made in a more overt style. Minerality takes a back seat to a decidedly up-front expression of ripe peaches and flowers. The Giardino also has the highest residual sugar of these offerings, which comes through in the wine-s weight and richness. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2011."  Wine Advocate 91 points.
