Cathedral Note & Prayers
Sunday June 10, 2012
Blood Drive The Life South Community Blood Center-Mobile Region will have their bloodmobile parked on St. Emanuel Street this Sunday until 1:00 p.m. We had nine people sign-up last Sunday. They are accepting walk-ins, as well. This will be a quarterly event. If you give blood, you may schedule it with us. For more information on Life South, please go to their website: The meeting originally scheduled for May 22 will be held Tuesday, June 19 at 5:30 p.m. We are reading Diarmaid MacCullough's Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years. For this gathering we will consider "The First Christianity" (Chapters 4-8, or Episode I of the DVD series) and "Catholicism-the unpredictable rise of Rome" (Chapters 9-12, or Episode II of the DVD). Please join us for fellowship and great conversation, even if you haven't finished the reading. VBS was a huge success thanks to all of our great volunteers, especially co- chairs Alison Mitchell and Thad Hendrix. We had 50-plus youth and children involved in the program that took us all on a trip to ancient Babylon. If you want to be able to speak with our youth-read the Book of Daniel.
Our youth leadership included: Janie Chow, Mackenzie Jackson, Anna Frances Weeks, Catherine Clinton, Lauren Lister, Annabelle McKay, Abby Tait, Tama Orr, Lilly Hooker, Hugh McClelland, Ellie Grehan, Charlie Weeks, Jordan Chow, Hannah Collins, Page Hoffmeyer, Catherine Sanders, Charlie Ramo, Caroline Clinton, Weslyn Walters, Gigi Citrin, Rose Elliott, Sam McKay, Tre Mitchell, Dylan Gibson, John Owens McElhaney, Alex Hoffmeyer.
Our adult helpers were: Mary Cook, Louise McClelland, Susan Clinton, Cornelia Gaillard, Mary Carol Ladd, M. J. Ramo, Sara Phillips, Lucy Moore, Mary Esther Elliott, Gaye Formanck, Barbara Archer, Shelley Griffin, Barry Weeks, Liz Ferguson.
Our music was led by Peggy Lyden and Teri Williams. You will have the opportunity to hear a performance Sunday morning.
O God, the strength of the weak and the comfort of sufferers: Mercifully accept our prayers, and grant to your servants the help of your power, that their sickness may be turned into health, and our sorrow into joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
We pray for:
