It's not a quilt until it's "Sew Quilted"!

Greetings! ,

Well the holidays are upon us and for me... it starts with the left over Halloween candy... and before you know it... I'm feasting on turkey, dressing and pies... and when I'm recouping and recovering from our Thanksgiving feast... it's all of sudden Christmas!   Oh my... how will I survive all the temptation!  Then New Years is just around the corner... with resolutions... unkept promises to loose the poundage... but ohhh they do sooth my over stuffed soul!

Since October's drop off / pick up at Candlelite Quilts is so late in November and on the heels of the Thanksgiving...  I'll let you know when my next drop off / pick up will be in my December Newsletter!

My Christmas deadline is November 15th..... the clock is ticking and time is flying by... hope everyone is busy sewing that special gift of love!  Give me a call to schedule a drop off at my studio!

Hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful and thankful celebration... enjoy your Holiday!

"Stash Party Pinwheel"

Block of the Month

November 2010 - October 2011

The Stash Party Pinwheel Block of the Month Quilt is designed by Candlelite Quilt Shop!  Each block will finish at 12" and will have one or more pinwheels within the block!

Lets get this Party Started... Get your first block November 2nd - 16th Shop at Candlelite Quilts by making a $10.00 purchase to add to your "Stash"! This gives you the opportunity to either select your fabrics and color way for your block each month... or you can use some fabric from your stash... you know... a fat quarter or yardage of fabric that you "had to have"!  Plan a scrappy quilt with Civil War Repos or go for the bold look of Kaffe Fassett.  It's all up to you...  but you must make a $10.00 purchase to receive your Pinwheel Pattern.

Party on... During the first 10 days of each month you bring your completed block from the prior month and shop shop, shop for your "Stash"  to receive your next pattern!   At the end of 12 months you will receive final instructions to make a sampler quilt using your blocks, sashing, corner stones and borders.  Approximate size 60"x75".

The Big Throw Down- You will be invited for Candlelite's "Pinwheel Party" in December 2011 for a lot of fun, show and tell, and a chance to see everyones' completed quilt!  (and if I know Cathy... there will be some chocolate involved!)

What a fun way to shop, meet new friends and plan a quilt and all for a monthly fabric purchase of $10.00!  Come on... lets be honest.. we all do that anyway!  You will have a Quilt that is uniquely yours made with the fabrics you love because its all the fabric from your "Stash"!

In my Humble Opinon

In Review With Karen KingPink Emblem

I was in Franklin, Ma and had the opportunity to stop by a quilt shop I had heard about but never visited.  Located at 12 Main Street is Emma's Quilt Cupboard, owned by Cyndi Rich and named for her daughter, Emma.

This is one of the best quilt shops I've visited this year.  Cyndi and her staff greeted me as soon as I came through the door and offered to show me around.  It was a great tour of beautiful fabrics, including a huge selection of batiks.

I asked Cyndi to recommend a new popular notion, tool or pattern that she liked, so we visited the wall of tools and notions!  Something immediately caught my eye... something I've wanted for a long time... Mini Attachments for your vacuum specifically for sewing machines.

Mini AttachmentsVery excited with my find... I asked her opinion of the "Mini Attachments for all Vacuums"... to which she replied..."We can't keep them in stock"!   After using it, I can see why.  First it comes with a narrow hose that fits without an adapter into any vacuum cleaner hose.  I used my hand-held Oreck and the narrow hose fit perfectly.  I was able to control the air flow with an adapter on the hose.  I immediately set to cleaning my Bernina.  I tried all the attachments, two brushes, crevice tool and the curved extension tool to get to hard-to-reach places.  The vacuum cleaner easily sucked up dust, lint hair and dirt of my machine without doing any harm  The brush tools, one round and one oval, worked great at lifting lint out of tight spots, and the crevice tool fit all those small spots around the bobbin case.  Within 10 minutes... I was finished and my machine was cleaned!

I'm thrilled with my purchase of  the Mini "Attachments for all Vacuums" and in addition to cleaning your sewing machines, you can also use it on computers, printers, keyboards and even in you car.  While vacuuming your machine doesn't replace a good tune up at your favorite sewing machine center, it sure keeps your machine clean between quilts.

I highly recommend the purchase of  the Mini Attachments for all Vacuums to keep your machine running smooth... and for a fabulous shop to hop... I also recommend a visit with Cyndi and her staff at Emma's Quilt Cupboard!
