I'm still working on the Customer Photo page.  I would love to post pictures of your quilts being loved and used!  So if you have some digital photo's of your finished quilts on your bed, snuggled by a love one or draped over your arm chair or sofa, send them in.

"Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference"
Both the Bunkhouse and Candlelite Quilts are hosting  this  yearlong national challenge, spearheaded by American Patchwork & Quilting. Independent quilt shops and fabric stores have joined forces with quilters and sewers to create and donate 1 million pillowcases to local charities.  Check both websites for details and a list of their chosen charities.   Stop in and sew with them or drop off what you may have made at home and help them both make a difference!

 Cathy Brackett

Cathy gets a big "Atta Girl"!  She has come a such a long way from her first quilt.   She has made huge strides with her technique!  What a difference a 1/4" foot and a class at Candlelite makes!
Her last quilt was just spot on!

Tip of the Month

I thought it would be fun to share tips.  If you have some solutions or tips you would like to share,  just send them in and I'll post them in my next newsletter.  Here are a couple tips to get us started.

1).  When cutting a lot of fabric your cutting matte will get fuzzy.  I always keep a swiffer duster handy (I of course call it a Fleufer!).  It works great.

2).  Since I have a lot of batting scraps,  I keep them handy, they are great  for dusting (not that I do a lot of that!!), and they also work great on your cutting matte if you don't have a Fleufer!

4).  When I sew on my DSM (domestic sewing machine), which I don't get to do nearly enough, I use blue painters tape to tape a piece of clear contact paper (sticky side up) to catch all my thread snips!  Works great and when it's covered I just put another down.  I have used the thread bags, and they are cute, but, I'm so clumsy they usually end up on the floor.

5). My good friend and fellow quilter Donna has a pressing tip.  It is important to make sure you iron your seams correctly.  Place the iron on right side of piece for a quick second or two, then flip it over, and use edge of iron against the seam.   A lot quilters don't press their work, this mistake can add as much as 1/32 of an inch per seam, which can add up with each block seam, row seam etc. to an inch or more you will be off.
