I haven't enjoyed this summer heat at all, and have tried on numerous occasions to escort customers into the cellar door, so I can enjoy the air conditioning. Hasn't worked though, I keep getting asked to sit outside.
So instead I've been hanging out indoors with the kids at the house watching movies. They let me enjoy the cool air con there. Sorry I haven't always been out for meets and greets in the carpark.
Had a scary encounter this week, I didn't notice I was sharing my afternoon nap in the garden with a tiger snake, until Mark came along and moved me very quickly. All ended okay - I'm still here!
Until next time..... Jasper. |

WELCOME to the first new look Newsletter for 2012.
No doubt like us, you have been enjoying the summer months. Have to say it has been just a little hot here in the West. Has meant some very early mornings to get the work done in the vineyard before the heat. The photo to the right shows you what happens to the grapes when they get too much heat too quickly - raisins!
All in all, even with Spring rains, the upcoming vintage is looking promising. We have been fortunate to have had minimal disease pressure, so no mildews to affect the fruit. Across the vineyard all is looking excellent, apart from some heat damage. We anticipate Vintage commencing as usual around mid Feb, and continuing through until late March early April at this stage.
Mark is busy getting everything ready in the winery, so it is all set to go. That means making sure he has all his specific yeasts ready to go, that all equipment is sparkling clean, and that the new oak barrels are on order.
We hope you continue to enjoy the summer months as they drift along, and look forward to catching up with you either at the cellar door, maybe on facebook, or via the next Newsletter after vintage.
Warmest Regards Pippa & Mark. |
