 Grapes on vine

DID YOU KNOW?

We typically drink our red wines too warm, and our whites too cold.

Too cold - less fruit flavour and exaggerated oak and tannin characters.

Too warm - exaggerates alcohol and softens the tannins.

So best temperatures are:

15-18 degrees for reds

&

8-12 degrees for whites.

Jasper - the RED dog.

Jasper the Dog

Well at long last fame has come to Jasper. Many of our customers, like us have been to see the wonderful Australian movie,
'Red Dog'.

So often now people arriving comment about his looks. He is getting numerous photos taken, so we will have to keep an eye on him, unless he thinks too highly of himself!

BirdTalk
September 2011

Welcome to the September edition of BirdTalk.
Budburst
Vineyard 28 - Budburst Spring 2011
First buds were out on 01 September, signalling the start of the new season. As per usual it was the Arneis and Nebbiolo that have burst.

When I last spoke, we were off to enjoy school holidays in Cairns. Very nice it all was as well, highlight being a wonderful day trip up to Cape Tribulation and the Daintree. Gabrielle's highlight would be getting to hold a koala, a rare thing as you know in WA.

Pruning was completed fairly quickly over the first 2 weeks of August with much assistance from Steve. The focus is now on getting the compost out under vine to give them all a good push along, and commence the usual disease management.

The next few months are wine show season, with our own Geographe Wine show commencing in October, and numerous others around the country. We'll keep you posted as to how our wines stand up.

On the home front we have kids travelling in October, Bailey off to Switzerland and UK for an international school conference and Gabrielle off to Japan, as part of the sister City arrangement, Bunbury has with Setagaya in Tokyo. It will be strange to be home without kids.

We hope this newsletter finds you all well, and enjoying the warmer spring weather.

Warmest Regards,

Mark & Pippa
