The Alliston & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Small Business Week event on Thursday October 20th from 6-8pm at the Millpond Café located at 106 Victoria St. W., Alliston. The first topic being presented is It's Not About You - How to approach business Communications. This is a simple but powerful approach that will make you rethink how to communicate with clients and prospects. Find out how changing your focus increases your chance of hearing "yes" with business writer and consultant, Debbie Ouellet of EchelonOne Consulting. The second topic of the evening is The Power of Know - When hitting the brick wall is good for you. The presenter for this topic is Donna Douglas owner of Donna Douglas Communications ● Training who to date, has had over 800 businesses start up under her tutelage with an 83% success rate under her Go Venture Program. The Alliston & District Chamber of Commerce hosted their first New Member morning meeting on October 5th.  We invited new members who had joined the Chamber in the last year to come and meet the Membership Committee, have any of their questions answered and get information on Chamber benefits and programs.  It was such a success that we will start to run it on a quarterly basis. 

HELP OUR GARDEN & YOUTH GROW! CONTACT is very excited to announce that with the support of Northstar Marine Insurance, we have submitted an idea for the Aviva Community Fund Competition! The Aviva Community Fund makes grants available of up to $1,000,000 to create positive change in communities across Canada. Our idea is for The Blue Frog Café and Marketplace, our youth volunteer led café located in downtown Alliston. With YOUR VOTE you can help us create a FRESH FOOD GARDEN where young people will come together to plant, grow, and harvest vegetables and herbs that are not available locally. The bounty of the garden will then be used at The Blue Frog to prepare fresh, nutritious, and inexpensive menu items. Any surplus produce will be donated to local community initiatives. This is a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and support a local initiative!!
