PIPELINE RATES ARE SET TO DOUBLE
After their recent defeat, the owner of the Texas Eastern Pipeline, Enterprise TE Products Pipeline, LLC, is at it again: they have resubmitted its proposal to split the pipeline into two sections, a Southern section and a Northern section, each with different, higher, rates. Ohio's most important terminal, Todhunter, would become one of the furthest terminals in the Southern section and a Point of Origin in the Northern section. For those who use Todhunter as one of their primary terminals, and for those who use terminals in Pennsylvania and New York, pipeline fees would more than double for propane originating from Texas. Getting propane originating from points in Ohio and Pennsylvania would be almost impossible. This unjustified tariff increase needs to be defeated. We will do our part, in our commitment to bring you quality product at the best price. During this tariff fight, the new rates will be allowed to go into effect. This means a sharp rise in the price per gallon almost immediately.
On top of the pipeline rate increase, Enterprise is creating a shortage of HD-5 by ramping up its capacity to export propane in its system by sea: an increasing portion of the propane supply is going abroad as soon as it is processed in the Gulf, so it does not count as inventory supply to keep the market in balance, so prices will continue to rise.
