THRIFTY FIGHTING PIPELINE RATE INCREASE
Thrifty Propane has fended off another rate increase proposed by the Texas Eastern pipeline. The owners of the pipeline, Enterprise TE Products Pipeline, LLC, tried to split the pipeline into two sections, a Southern section and a Northern section, each with different, higher, rates. Ohio's most important terminal, Todhunter, would become one of the furthest terminals in the Southern section and a Point of Origin in the Northern section. For those who use Todhunter as one of their primary terminals, and for those who use terminals in Pennsylvania and New York, pipeline fees would more than double for propane originating from Texas. Getting propane originating from points in Ohio and Pennsylvania would be almost impossible. There is no doubt that Enterprise will try to get this increase through again, and we will be fighting for you to defeat it when it comes. We continue to do everything in our power to fight the increase, in our commitment to bring you quality product at the best price.
Also impacting on the price of propane is the increased export of propane by sea: an increasing portion of the propane supply is going abroad as soon as it is processed in the Gulf, so it does not count as inventory supply to keep the market in balance, so prices will continue to rise.
To guard against these impacts on the market Thrifty offers pre-buy programs so that your supply for future needs can be purchased for today's lower prices as well as price-lock, or buy a whole tank and save the rest. You will not find prices like this again!
