THE BP OIL SPILL WILL PUSH PROPANE PRICES UP - NOW IS THE TIME TO PRE-BUY
Market conditions for propane are changing all the time and we are constantly reviewing the market to get the best savings to pass on to you. The BP oil spill is predicted to keep the prices of oil and propane up for the foreseeable future as it threatens to block supply by forcing shut the Houston Ship Channel, through which much of the crude oil gets delivered to the refineries. This is entirely aside from the havoc it is creating for the entire Gulf Coast. Already the price of July crude is nearly $9O/bbl. Off-shore drilling accounts for 30% of the oil exploration in the United States, and a permanent moratorium could go into effect, creating a more severe shortage and even higher prices.
Even though our pure HD5 propane comes from natural gas processing, the price of oil drives the entire market. Protect yourself from a price shock already on the horizon. Get a Thrifty Propane pre-buy of our pure HD5 propane today!

THE BP OIL SPILL DISASTER
Their lives are lost and a disaster is unfolding before our eyes. Unlike the abstract bets against bad mortgages, the snapped oil tube in the Gulf of Mexico has resulted concretely, immediately and directly in an oil spill of unprecedented scale. The crude oil bursting up from the ocean floor will in all likelihood find its way to the beaches of Florida, and, following the currents, coat the waters of the entire Eastern Seaboard. The oil from this broken well cannot be shut off easily or quickly, and may not be shut off at all.
Their lives are lost and the well they tended cannot soon be fixed. More lives will be lost, suddenly or slowly, as this disaster unfolds. This disaster, like all disasters, has a story, and this story has a villain, as they often do. When this rig was built, and the sections of pipe sent down into the waters that dwarfed them, the builders knew the waters at the bottom were cold and under enormous pressure and the pipe could break, indeed would break, sooner or later. Just like the mortgage pools on Wall Street, this was a bet on the waters of the Gulf and the pipe they drove into the sea's floor. And just like on Wall Street, they didn't hedge their bet, because they saved the money on a remote shut-off switch that is required by nearly every other nation with off-shore drilling, which would have shut off the oil. Even, Brazil, that has cut-down the rain forest apace, requires this switch.
The builders lost the bet, and the oil riggers' lives were lost. Their lives were lost when natural gas, that resides in pockets held in place by the crude oil beneath the sea floor, found its way to that tiny pipe, and, speeding its way to the surface as only such gas can, and expanding so fast it became colder than ice, and meeting an open flame, or a tiny spark, burst into flame. That flame became a fireball that consumed the men whose lives were lost. The helmsman, in the midst of this fireball, gave way to reflex and the reflex moved the platform. The pipe, strained and weakened, finally snapped beneath it. Then the oil followed, but there was no valve to check its flow, and it is still flowing out, toward our beaches, our wetlands, our rivers and our homes. All of this destruction for lack of a switch, and the builders left off the switch to save . . . money. Money that had to save at the insistence of their investors and their lenders that lent the money that kept them in business, without which they would fold because they have borrowed so much more money than they can ever pay back, loans that make the lenders a fortune.
The villain in the story is, once again, greed, that made the builders of the rig scrimp on a remote control switch required almost everywhere else so that they bet three metal pipes would hold up against the entire Gulf. To save money, they bet our oceans, our fisheries, and our homes. The bet was lost. And, once again, we pay for it.

THE BROADER PICTURE - A FEW FOLLOW-UP WORDS ON THE GOLDMAN, SACHS SCANDAL
The investigation into Goldman, Sachs, in truth an investigation into the whole sub-prime mortgage scandal, has taken a heartening turn, as the investigation moves to Congress and to law enforcement. A lie to Congress is only a lie, however, and a lie to a prosecutor can a lie between lawyers, which can often be just a wink and a nod. We are hopeful that the FBI and other, unforgiving, law enforcement bodies get and stay involved, since a lie to them is more than a wink, it is another crime. Time will tell. |
This Incident has been confirmed. In Katy , TX As a woman was putting gas in her car, a man came over and offered his services as a painter, and had his business card in his hand. She said no, but accepted his card out of kindness and got in the car. The man then got into a car driven by another gentleman. As the lady left the service station, she saw the men following her out of the station at
the same time. Almost immediately, she started to feel dizzy and could not catch her breath. She tried to open the window and realized that the odor was on her hand; the same hand which accepted the card from the gentleman at the gas station. She then noticed the men were immediately behind her and she felt she needed to do something at that moment. She drove into the first driveway and began to honk her horn repeatedly to ask for help.. The men drove away but the lady still felt pretty bad for several minutes after she could finally catch her breath. Apparently, there was a substance on the card that could have seriously injured her. This drug is called 'BURUNDANGA ' and it is used by people who wish to incapacitate a victim in order to steal from or take advantage of them. This drug is four times dangerous than the date rape drug and is transferable on simple cards.
So take heed and make sure you don't accept business
cards at any given time alone or from someone on the streets.
This applies to those making house calls and
slipping you a card when they offer their services.
