November/December 2011 | www.teresafunke.com |

Hello,
Colorado is known for its lovely Indian summers. This year has been especially nice. Course, I miss so much of it since I spend most of my time indoors at the computer. I sometimes wish I had a job that took me outside more often, or at least allowed me an afternoon stroll. On the other hand, I'm really enjoying putting the finishing touches on my newest book in the Home-Front Heroes series. It should go into the production phase soon. I'm also really enjoying this great learning curve I'm on to move further into professional speaking, including blogging and webinars. I call this new endeavor TFC 2.0. As a part of developing my new business model, I've been studying the Strengths Finder book and program. If you haven't done it, I highly recommend it. Here's the website. Just knowing a bit more about my top five strengths really helped me get passed some hurdles in my thinking. Somehow, fall always seems to be a time when I reinvent myself. I hope you are enjoying some new adventures as well!
Did You Know:YouTube is a treasure trove of videos featuring interviews with people about their past experiences! For 20 years now, I've been interviewing people to record first-person accounts, and now we're finding those types of videos popping up on the web. Out of curiosity, I visited You Tube and typed in "English Children Evacuees WWII" and a handful of personal interviews surfaced. What a wonderful way to preserve history! See for yourself here!
Did You Know: The National Museum of World War II has a fun and interactive website for teachers and students who want to learn more about the war. Click here to visit the website.
Did You Know: Join us for a Veteran's Day celebration on Sunday, November 13 at the new Veteran's Plaza of Northern Colorado located at Spring Canyon Park in Fort Collins. We will be unveiling the new, larger-than-life statue by artist Susan Raymond. The event runs from 11-3 p.m. For more information about the project as a whole or to nominate veterans for inclusion at our plaza or make a donation, please visit the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado website.

Educator's Tip
Be Thankful!
Thanking the leaders in our community for helping to keep our schools, neighborhoods, cities, and state operations what they are today is often overlooked. Thanksgiving has always been a holiday that inspires and promotes the awareness of being thankful. Sponsor Thank Yous
Author Visit Program:
A huge thank you to Lori Heutzenroeder and Greg Evans of North Beach Dental for supporting the Teresa Funke Author Visits Program by providing matching funds to TEN area schools! These funds will help offset the steep cuts to school's speaker budgets. I'm super excited to be back in the classrooms and working with the kids. Once again, North Beach has proven that they put children first in our community. We're so grateful.
And a special thank you to the Fort Collins Lions Club for providing matching funds for a school visit, as well. I love working with The Lions. They have been great supporters of my school visit and school kit programs. The Lions are actively looking for new members. If you've been considering joining a civic group, please check them out!
