Starting Year Three!
On September 1, Teresa Funke & Company celebrates our second anniversary. So much has changed in our country, our industry, even our world in the past two years. I'm leaving behind some of the tried-and-true methods I've used in the past and heading into some new areas. I'm also relocating my office, so please take note of my new mailing address and phone number!
In keeping with all of the changes around here, we are hoping to revamp this newsletter and move to a bi-monthly format. I very much enjoy all of the comments I get about the newsletter and am glad to hear you find good information here, but I'm also sensitive to the fact that everyone's e-mail boxes are overflowing these days, and I don't want to add to the congestion. In between newsletters, we may occasionally send out special announcements about new workshops or books, etc., but we'll keep those short and sweet. We may also be changing the design of the newsletter. We struggle every month to work within the Constant Contact templates, so we're looking at other options that should eliminate the trouble some of you have had with the fonts coming through weird or with letters being dropped, etc. Since we are working on changes, I'll keep this newsletter short this month.
We're looking forward to a great third year and want to THANK YOU for your support of our little company, especially in these challenging times. We promise to continue doing our best to champion art, education, and the preservation of history in the year to come!

Writer's Tip
Here's some interesting information about the factors that affect people's decision to buy a book. Remember, too, that readers don't recommend a book that isn't well written, and they certainly don't read another book by that author. As you can see, those are the two biggest influences on buyers. So make sure your book is the best it can be!!
People Buy Books Based On:
Friend's Recommendation - 49%
Familiarity with Author - 45%

Bazooka! Because of WWII, sugar was scarce and had to be rationed. Due to this, the production and innovation of candy was also lean. In the 1940s, though, a few candies were introduced that would become famous. Few were as popular as Bazooka Bubble Gum! The red, white, and blue wrapper was symbolic for patriotism and associated itself with the history of American Sweets. True or False? (1) Bazooka was named after the weapon bearing it's name. (2) Bazooka gum was named after a musical instrument.
Answers: (1) False (2) True

Look Who I Met!
I'm shown here with some of the performers of the "pre-show" at my July 3 performance of Dancing in Combat Boots at the Colorado Actor's Company and Theater School. These girls did an Andrews Sisters-type of act and they were amazing! It was great fun to watch them perform. For more information about Colorado ACTS and their new location, visit the website through the link above!

Sponsor Thank Yous
A huge thank you to Lori Heutzenroeder and Greg Evans of North Beach Dental for supporting the Teresa Funke Author Visits Program by providing matching funds to TEN area schools! These funds will help offset the steep cuts to school's speaker budgets. I'm super excited to get back into the classrooms and work with the kids. Once again, North Beach has proven that they put children first in our community. We're so grateful.
