Did You Know: More than 500,000 books were published last year! More than half of those were self-published.

Did You Know: The Museo de Las Tres Colonias is one of Fort Collins' hidden gems. It retells the story of the Hispanic pioneers who settled here because of the sugar beet industry. It's housed in a restored abobe house and offers regular tours. For more information about tours check out this website.

Museo de Las Tres Colonias Kids
Isn't this a great photo? These children were visiting the Museo de Las Tres Colonias in Fort Collins, Colorado and were each presented with a copy of V for Victory to take home. Thanks, Betty!

WWII Officer is School Kit Honoree
Our newest School Kit Honoree has an amazing story. Among other things, he commanded the first unit in World War II where blacks and whites served together. To read more about his fascinating story, please click here.

Putting together these flyers is one of my favorite parts of my job! I'm so pleased to be able to honor the wonderful men and women of WWII on my website and in these flyers, which we send to schoolchildren along with the donated kits. To learn more about the school kit program,

Summer Reading Program Update

Teresa Funke at the Boys and Girls Club

My visits with the Summer Reading program participants at the Boys and Girls Clubs were a blast. We had a higher attendance at my talks than we'd hoped for, and you can see from this photos, taken at the Fort Collins club, that the kids literally mobbed me to get their free books. I'm very excited to go back at the end of July and hand out prizes to our winners! The Northside Aztlan Community Center kids asked great questions. They were a delight to work with as well!
