First Baptist Snellville: Where Caring Happens... May 15, 2012

Who hasn't heard the saying, "you are what you eat?" If you and I want to live in a healthy body, we have to make choices that support that goal. Let's say we are going to a wonderful restaurant that serves the best desserts in the world. After entering the establishment, we indulge and afterward comment, "That wasn't the best decision; it's time to hit the gym." It's easy to decide to eat all those things that taste good and not have much room left for the healthy food.
Our spiritual life is no different. Like the example above, it boils down to our making decisions that support our goals. Most people say they want to be healthy, but their choices say something entirely different. Isn't it true that what we eat in private shows in public? It isn't enough to sit, like an Easter egg, in the colored dye and only be changed on the outside. Don't you want to reflect your decision to love Christ and follow Him to the lost world around you? Yes, it is tempting, like the dessert, but filling your life with that which doesn't feed you spiritually will not accomplish your goal. Jesus has expressed His will in His word saying that Christ is to be the center of everything and we are to be about our Father's business. Do you pray, claiming the promises of God, read His Word expectantly for a touch from Him, Witness of His sacrifice on the cross and are you obedient?
We challenge you to consider the many exciting opportunities that you find here at FBCS. Our next Senior Adult excursion is for veterans and their families. On May 24th we will take a group to tour the new Georgia National Cemetery, eat lunch at Williamson Brothers and conclude with touring the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville. The cost for the trip is $10.00. If you would like to sign up or request more information please call 770-978-5724.
Remember, that Vacation Bible School is right around the corner, June 4-8, and we wish to encourage senior adults to be involved. This is a choice that will make it possible for children to hear about Jesus and give their hearts to Him. Over 80 children were saved last year in VBS; it is a task which will touch eternity. There are a variety of opportunities and all can play a part. Please call 770-978-5702.
Coming soon, Christmas in July! This church-wide event offers an opportunity to touch our senior adults living in nursing homes with the love of Christ. We plan to visit and deliver gifts to six different nursing homes, three in the morning from 10:30am - 12:00pm and three in the afternoon from 1:30 - 3:00pm. Additional information will be on the Christmas trees, which will dot our campus in the near future. Would you brighten up the day of a senior by purchasing one or more items from their Christmas wish list? We would love to have you be part of one of the six traveling groups caroling, performing in a skit and distributing gifts & Christmas cookies. For those who like to cook, we will have a cookie bake at the church or you may bring 3 dozen home-made cookies. Watch for dates and let's join together and connect others to Jesus Christ and His story.
For more information, please call 770-978-5724.
