Worship - Love - Serve - Invite
|
Every week Snellville First Baptist
goes out into this community and reaches lives for Jesus Christ. Here are
even more examples of how we "Make Caring Happen." Below is an
article from Ann Collins to tell you about just a few of the many great success
stories as a result of VBS.
1. Lillian Richmond, used to ride one of our buses, but her family moved out of
our geographic area. She was invited by another bus child to attend VBS
on the first day, which then resulted in her attending all week. Lilli made a
decision to accept Christ during the week and was baptized at the VBS family
night event. The greater story is that her parents and one set of
grandparents were here on Sunday evening to support Lili's obedience in
baptism. Lilli's family has also attended church on at least two of the
Sunday's since VBS.
2. On VBS family night, a mom and her three sons were brought to church
by a bus ministry volunteer. The oldest of the three sons JaQuil
Stevenson, who was too old for VBS, accepted Christ on that Sunday
evening. This child would not have been at church that Sunday evening, if
it had not been for his mother bringing the two younger boys.
3. On VBS family night, Shauna
Potts, accepted Christ. She is the mother of some new riders we have, Shannon, Abby, and Maessie Potts. Their father, Billy Potts, also joined the church. This is one of three families that Rose Anne Fritts brought to
our church after making contact with them on Craig's list. Isn't it
amazing, that if you really want to be a witness, you can just go on-line and
start making contacts!
God is so good, all the time!!!

Faithful
Friends Baptist
Church In May of this year, Dr. Steve Parr of the Georgia Baptist
Convention contacted FBS regarding a church plant in Vine City.
Reverend Carnell Thomas started Faithful
Friends Church
in Vine City out of First Baptist Atlanta. While
renovating the house into a worship center, Rev. Thomas was in need of
replacing the carpet and needed our help. Through some of our church members,
we were able to provide Rev. Thomas and his church with the help that they
needed. Faithful Friends Baptist
Church's vision is "to
sow the Word of God in the community to as many people as possible, as clearly
as possible and as quickly as possible, motivated by a passion for God and
compassion for people." We look forward to working alongside Faithful Friends
Baptist Church
in future projects.
Pastor Kumar - First
South Asian
Church of Atlanta First Baptist Snellville began partnering with Pastor Kumar
in March of 2009 to minister to the Fiji Indian community in the Atlanta area. On June 27th,
28 people were in attendance of their worship service. At present time, FSAC is
meeting in Annistown Baptist Church
in order to be centrally located among the Fiji community. Pastor Kumar is
currently leading a mission trip in Canada and will be preaching at 3
South Asian churches. We are excited about the new opportunities that lie ahead
for Pastor Kumar and First South Asian Church of Atlanta.
Women's Prison Ministry Update: The Inmates Services
Office of the Ladies Prison Ministry at the Gwinnett Detention Center has designated Thursday nights from
7:30-9:00 for ladies 17 to middle 50's, in "L" Pod to have "church services."
We have set-up a monthly schedule whereby one of the six approved ladies can go
in to teach a Bible lesson. This group of dedicated ladies minister each
week by singing, handing out prayer cards and praying with them and sharing
testimonies. Sometimes we get the
opportunity to share DVDs and provide the ladies with Bible study materials and
Bibles which they can, in turn, pass along to other inmates. We always share the
Gospel and explain how to have a personal relationship with our Lord.

What
a wonderful night we had here at First Baptist on July 4th. The
services all day were just outstanding and we want to thank Bob Reccord and
Wintley Phipps for sharing their talents with us that day. We especially want
to thank the many volunteers who helped make this one of the best July
4th celebrations we have ever had. Your work and dedication was
shown to our church members and the Snellville Community. Thank you so
much!!!

This fall, we will
have a new opportunity for Bible study. Tuesdays, starting August
31st, we will be offering a MORNING class from 9:30-11:30am and an
EVENING class from 6:30-8:30pm.
We will be meeting in room A100. If your work schedule prevents you from
participating in one of the many wonderful opportunities we have here on
Sundays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, or if you work in other ministry areas during
those times, this may be the opportunity for you. Join us as we
begin a study of the book of Revelation, the only book of the Bible that
promises a blessing for those who read, hear and heed its words. (Rev. 1:3) This is an adult class and everyone is welcome. Invite your family, friends,
neighbors, co-workers, anyone! The
cost of the workbook is $25. Please call by Aug 23rd to order your book or get more information. 770-972-8987
