Note From Jim
Hello to all once again! Our apologies for missing the September issue of the Metabolic Minute, but it was for an important reason. The LaValle family relocated to beautiful Southern California! With that news, I would like to explain some of the changes that have been taking place with me and LMI lately. As many of you who are patients at LMI know, I have cut down on my hours at the clinic, and I want to explain why. I have sincerely enjoyed every minute of my time with our patients in clinical practice. It is tough work at times, but very rewarding. I have been fortunate to experience health transformations with many of you and fought on tough struggles when needed. While the great experiences and successes are too numerous to count, I had always hoped someday to be able to advance the use of natural therapeutics on a much larger scale. To some extent, I have already been doing that by teaching and lecturing extensively on natural therapeutics literally around the world, but after nearly 26 years in this business, some tremendous opportunities have arisen which will allow me to realize my goal of integrating the use of more natural therapeutics into conventional medical practice, so that everyone can begin to benefit from true integrative care in the United States. I am excited at these opportunities that will allow me to be involved in touching millions of lives. And I do still plan to schedule some hours at LMI, as I am able.
My personal health has also played a role in making the decision to move, while pursuing these opportunities. As some of you may know, I have had a condition called Raynaud's Syndrome most of my adult life. This condition affects circulation in the hands and feet and can be quite painful especially on wet damp days and cold winter months. While I had managed to reduce the severity of the disease with years of nutritional work, the last few years have been very difficult on me in the Cincinnati climate from October to April. Warmer weather simply allows me to feel better and not experience the pain and discomfort that I have had. Like all of you, I struggle with health issues, and I needed to make a change. To uproot my family and move from Cincinnati was difficult, but in the end Laura, my wife gave me the best advice. She told me after seeing my struggles this last year, that I have sacrificed enough, and that it was time for me to be in a place that could benefit my future health.
So, I hope everyone can understand that this was difficult move, but was necessary for several reasons.
It has been my privilege to be able to build LaValle Metabolic Institute, literally from an office behind a racquetball court to what it is today. It has been so fulfilling to help guide so many wonderful people into better health, and to be able to teach and pass the torch on to other great practitioners, my colleagues and friends at LMI- Dr. Maureen Pelletier and Dr. Gary Huber. Both Gary and Maureen are as passionate as me about integrative medicine and I am lucky to have such skilled clinicians carrying on our work at LMI.
Please keep my family and me in your prayers as we continue to adjust to everything with the move, and I look forward to seeing some of you again, when I am finally able to get some clinic hours set in Cincinnati in the near future.
Since we missed an issue I would like to send an additional Metabolic Minute in October reflecting on the "state of the union," so to speak in the field of natural medicine. It has come much farther than I ever dreamed it would in my professional career, and yet it still has a long way to go. So we'll be in touch again in a couple of weeks!
And finally: Thanks to all of you for all your support over the last few years and for your patience with us over the last few months as we (myself, my family and everyone at LMI) have been making these transitions.
As Always, In Good Health
