 Airport Arrival Transportation Instructions
Dear  :

This email is sent to all delegates to give instructions for arrival at the airport in Tokyo (whether Narita or Haneda).  If you arrive on the 10th or the 11th at Narita, your transportation is provided and it is very simple.  If you arrive earlier (or another date) or at Haneda Airport, read carefully as you will need to get to the Tokyo 2010 GMC location at the Nakano Sun Plaza on your own.

For most delegates, upon your arrival at Narita on Monday, May 10, or Tuesday, May 11:

When you exit customs, look for Tokyo 2010 volunteers in T-shirts with the Tokyo 2010 logo.  The shirts are 'probably' red.  Volunteers will be at the airport from 8:30 AM until all flights have arrived.  The volunteers will direct you to chartered buses that will take you to the Nakano Sun Plaza for registration and accommodations connections.  Arrivals after 19:30 may be taken by train instead of bus by the volunteers.

It's that simple!  See you at the Nakano Sun Plaza!

For the other delegates, more detailed instructions are necessary.  Please see the separate sections below for:

  1. Delegates arriving before May 10 (or after May 11) at Narita.
  2. Delegates arriving on May 10 or May 11 at Haneda.
  3. Delegates arriving before May 10 (or after May 11) at Haneda.

Especially for all delegates in these three categories (and also of some interest to everyone) is a document with full transportation instructions and options from both airports available at www.tokyo2010.org/conference/Airport_Transportation_Instructions.doc.  In fact, we encourage all delegates to carefully read the Delegate Instructions posted at www.tokyo2010.org.

Please see the document at www.tokyo2010.org/conference/Airport_Transportation_Instructions.doc

for your transportation options.  As communicated many times and ways, you will need to pay your own cost for arrivals other than the 10th or the 11th.  What follows is the option with the lowest cost:

KEISEI TRAIN LINE (Least expensive - 1290 yen)

In airport lobby, take escalator down to train station.

Be sure to go to Keisei Line, not JR Line.

Buy through ticket (ticket for more than 1 line): Airport-Nippori-Shinjuku-Nakano.

Cost of through ticket: Limited Express (Tokkyu) = 1290 yen; Skyliner = 2210 yen

Take Limited Express (Tokkyu) or Skyliner to Nippori.

Ride for about 1 hour 15 min. on Tokkyu, 1 hour on Skyliner

Get off at Nippori, one stop before last stop of Ueno. Most people will get off here.

Place your through ticket in the turnstile machine and GET IT BACK AGAIN.

If you don't buy a through ticket, you must give up your Keisei ticket to Nippori and buy a JR (290 yen) ticket to Nakano.

Change to Platform 11, Yamanote Line (silver and green color) in Tabata direction

Ride for about 20 min. through Tabata, Komagome, Ikebukuro, Takadanobaba, etc.

Get off at Shinjuku.

Change to Platform 11 or 12, Chuo Line (Central Line, orange color) in Nakano direction

Get off at 1st stop, Nakano.

Go out North Exit. 1 min. walk to Nakano Sun Plaza.

Note:  You should have your own accommodations arranged if you are arriving before the 10th, so you may want to go directly to that hotel or location rather than the Nakano Sun Plaza.  The hotel should give you directions similar to the above, or seek help at the airport for the specific route you need.

Delegates arriving on May 10 or May 11 at Haneda Airport

For the delegates (mostly from Asia) arriving at Haneda airport, you will not be met by volunteers, but your ticket cost will be reimbursed when you register.  You are expected to get to the Nakano Sunplaza yourself by Limousine Bus.  Take the Limousine Bus to the Nakano - Sunplaza stop.   The fare is 1200 yen and the trip takes approximately 40min - 75 min.  Purchase your ticket at the Airport Lobby Information Desk and board the bus at the Airport Limousine Bus Boarding Point.
