Welcome to Tokyo
Welcome to Tokyo!! It is truly a tremendous honor for the church in Japan that the Edinburgh 100th Anniversary World Mission Consultation will be held in Tokyo, Japan.
At present, Japanese mission and church leaders, especially in the Tokyo area, are working very hard to prepare for this gathering. In 2009 we have had two large gatherings commemorating the 150th anniversary of Protestant missions in Japan. I served as the chairman for one of them. These events have delayed somewhat our preparations for the Edinburgh conference. Regardless, we are very excited to be able to welcome missiologists and mission leaders from all corners of the world who are contributing so much to world missions. We are sure that this global consultation will be a great encouragement to the Japanese church, especially in the area of evangelization, not only in foreign fields, but also in our own homeland. So we, the Japan Host Committee, look forward to welcoming delegations from all over the world to Tokyo 2010!! May our Lord bless you all abundantly! Dr. Minoru Okuyama, Host Committee Executive Chairman

A Message from the Tokyo Host Committee The Japan Host Committee would like to extend a warm welcome to all delegates from around the world to participate in Tokyo 2010. This global mission consultation will take place on May 11-14, an ideal climate period in Japan. We will do our utmost to make this conference an uplifting spiritual, academic and cultural experience for all leaders from participating church and mission organizations. Our desire is to learn from what God did in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1910 and apply it to the calling of world evangelism that is placed on our shoulders today. The dire times we are living in constrain us to seek God's wisdom to more effectively communicate the gospel to the nations. Ever worsening global conditions of economic uncertainty, climate change, ever-present poverty, natural and man-made disasters, political, ethnic and religious conflicts, etc., are all contributing to produce distress in the hearts of men everywhere. But at the same time, they are also creating a window of opportunity for mankind to seek the living God, who alone can give an anchor of hope in perilous times. We desire to seize this opportunity and find ways to cooperate together to complete the mission of world evangelism in our generation. We realize this will only be fulfilled as the whole body of Christ unites in one spirit and one vision. It is with this desire that we are making preparations for this convocation. We urge all with a heart for world missions to make time in your schedule to join us at Tokyo 2010! Elmer Inafuku, Tokyo Host Committee Chairman

Participatory Workshops
Workshops at Tokyo 2010 will be organized into four major areas, or tracks: Celebration, Casting Vision, New Models, and Coordination.
The idea behind these workshop tracks is to look in depth at four inter-related dimensions of the Great Commission: 1) Where have we come from? 2) What remains to be done? 3) What is presently working (and what is not)? and 4) How can we join together to take the gospel from where it is to where it needs to go? Each track and each workshop is designed to invite the participation of the delegates. After delegates are selected and as soon as workshop schedules are finalized and presenters organized, delegates will be asked their preference for workshop participation.
