TICKETS ARE NOW ON SALE FOR MARTIN SHAW IN SANTA ROSA! The Numina Center for Spirituality & the Arts presents mythologist Martin Shaw on Thursday night, September 22nd, at the Church of the Incarnation. Shaw has been described by Robert Bly as "a true master" and as "one of the very greatest storytellers we have." As a storyteller and teacher, he is internationally regarded as one of the most exciting new proponents of the mythic imagination. Shaw's new book, A Branch from the Lightning Tree: Ecstatic Myth and the Grace in Wildness (White Cloud Press), presents seven "prophetic stories," stories that speak deeply to the challenges we face today, in the world and in our personal lives. Don't miss this exciting and transformative experience! You, too, can become a carrier of stories!

Odd Job Saturday is back! Next Saturday the 24th we are holding a Trimming and Cleanup event. Everyone who enjoys gardening is invited. Bring your trimmers, rakes, and brooms, and we'll see how pretty we can make the grounds. There are many projects to choose from. We'll start around 8:00 AM, and end at noon. See you there!

Animal Ministry Event! Come meet adorable dogs and cats of Sonoma Humane Society at Incarnation's Animal Ministry Adoption Fair! Sunday, Sept. 25th, 9:30am - 1:30pm in the Courtyard.  If you have been thinking it's time to add a furry family member, or you just want to see and pet cute kittens, cats and dogs, join us! Recently sponsored small and slow older dogs, Ginger (10) and Sassy (11) will be there too!  Check  out Ginger and  Sassy and all adorable animals at www.sonomahumane.org. Adoption counselors will be on site to answer your questions. Animal Ministry and Compassionate Living Outreach will provide free snacks and goodies to munch on. This is our pre-St. Francis Day event to help us get started on appreciating the furry (and finned, scaled, etc.) loves in our lives and in the world. Local churches are also invited, so please feel free to invite friends, family members or co-workers you think might need. For more information contact Lauren or Eileen at animalm@incarnation-sr.org.

In Sonoma County, it is estimated that 12,565 persons become homeless annually. That's more than the populations of the cities of Healdsburg (pop. 11,254), Sonoma (pop. 9,500), Sebastopol (pop. 7,800), or Cotati (pop. 6,700).Incarnation's Open Table breakfast feeds over 100 homeless people every Sunday.  Now through October your contribution to the Open Table ministry will be matched dollar for dollar thanks to a donation of up to $5,000 in matching funds. To donate: Make checks payable to "Church of the Incarnation" with "Open Table" in the memo line, or put cash donations in our red donation box in Farlander Hall.

Help is needed on the fourth Sunday of every month - we need someone to make and pour coffee after the 9:15 service. Please contact Diane Bruce, 707-838-8676, if you're interested.

The Scarf Project: Thank you all for your contributions to The Scarf Project. Knitters and crocheters have been hard at work thorough the summer and we have nearly reached our goal! The scarves are soft, colorful, and beautiful! But your contributions are still welcome! Scarves should be in darkish colors (no solid red or blue,) 7 to 10 inches wide, and about 55 inches long. Plain knitting or crocheting is fine, although patterns are welcome. I hope to collect all the scarves by December 1, 2011. So if you would like to knit or crochet a scarf for a homeless client of the Open Table Sunday morning Ministry, please contact me, Debora Leitner (523-1536).

Create your own Small Group. Did you know that we have over 18 small groups here at our church? There is always room for one more. If you have an idea for a small group or have been thinking "wouldn't it be great to share my joy for (fill in the blank) with others", then consider starting your own small group. On the Small Group table in Farlander Hall there's a flyer with information for anyone who is interested in creating their own Small Group. If you would like to share and discuss your idea with me, call me at (707) 703-4162. Or email me (Mitch Garcia) at smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org.
