How do you turn $100 into $200 instantly? By giving it away! Now and thru the middle of October, every dollar you give to Open Table ministry will be matched, dollar for dollar! An anonymous donor has given up to $5,000 in matching funds to our Sunday morning breakfast program. Make your checks out to the church, with "Open Table" in the memo line, or just put cash in the red steel donation box in Farlander Hall!

Last Concert of the Summer! This Sunday at 4:00 pm will be the last in the Numina Summer Chamber Concert series in Farlander Hall. Spend "An Artful Afternoon" with Carol Menke & Friends. Our parishioner, Diane Schoenrock will be the guest artist.

Evening Women's Gathering: Will meet Tuesday August 16 at 7:00 pm at the home of Donna Wiuff. This is a supportive group that provides a place to share our lives and our spiritual journeys.

Arizona Mission Trip and Fund Raising Pancake Breakfast:

Please join us this Sunday August 14th as we thank you and share our story. We will have a video presentation at the 8 and 10 am services and a fund raising brunch after each service.

Our next experiment with music and liturgy will be next Sunday, August 21, when we hold our annual service in the redwoods.  This year, we'll have a student bluegrass band join us!  Look for more information soon about that service, which, again, will be held on August 21 at Armstrong Woods State Park.  After that, we will hold another gospel service on September 4 - that's Labor Day weekend - and then on every first Sunday of the month for the remainder of the year.  So spread the word!  Warn the neighbors!

Benedict's Way is a new small group that is forming. Are you looking for a way to help remain rooted and grounded in Christ and in the scriptures? The sixth century Rule of Benedict has depth and wisdom to address these needs and more. The Rule is an amazing resource that can help us live more fully into our Baptismal Covenant, more deeply into our life in Christ and with eyes, ears, and heart that seek God in the ordinary things of daily life. If you would like to learn more, there is a sign-up sheet on the Small Group table in Farlander.

Centering Prayer meets every Monday 5-6:15pm in the Clergy Con. Room and all are welcome. Fr. Thomas Keating writes that "Centering Prayer is a method designed to facilitate the development of Contemplative Prayer by preparing our faculties to receive this gift. It is an attempt to present the teaching of earlier times in an updated form. Centering Prayer is not meant to replace other kinds of prayer; rather it casts a new light and depth of meaning on them. It is at the same time a relationship with God and a discipline to foster that relationship. This method of prayer is a movement beyond conversation with Christ to communion with Him." There is a pamphlet on the Small Group table by Thomas Keating "The Methods of Centering Prayer", stop by and check it out. If you have any question or would like more information please email:cprayer@incarnation-sr.org  or call 703-4162 or visit the Small Group webpage.

Growing Together! A Place for Families next outing will be Saturday, August 27th at Howarth Park (3-5pm). This is a time to gather with other families and friends and enjoy an afternoon together. Our goal is to help children and their families form meaningful, long-term relationships with the other families in our congregation and to grow together through Christ and our common language of faith and community. If you would like more information, please email Nick Lawrence at growing@incarnation-sr.org.
