We're gonna do church old-school style next week, with the jazz ensemble returning and this time armed with a lead singer and a whole bunch of familiar hymns. Help us celebrate 4th of July in style - July 3rd at the 10 o'clock service.

The Philosophy Group meets this Thursday at 7pm in the library. Come check out the philosophy reading and discussion group. Philosophy is traditionally defined as the love of wisdom, but the most famous philosopher of antiquity (Socrates) claimed to know nothing at all. In the same spirit, Proverbs 3:5 warns that human understanding may not be so firm as we believe it to be. Philosophy studies matters are elusive, yet there is something satisfying about the activity of exploring itself. Join a group where you can explore the limits of your understanding and look deeper into questions about knowledge, truth, justice, being and ethics. We will read texts as a group and come together to ask questions and discuss them in a spirit of openness and inquiry.

I need your help and ask that you go to our website and locate the ministry you are involved with as a leader and please check to see if the information is correct. If your ministry is not on our website, then I need to know as soon as possible so I can add that information to our site. WE ARE ALL HEALERSis a workshop led by the Rev. Dr. Francis Geddes and the Rev. Brian Cochran. The workshop introduces the contemplative dimensions of healing prayer. Participants learn about ten different spiritual exercises drawn from Christian, Jewish, Eastern, and Native American traditions. These exercises enable one to work with inner imagery that serves as a bridge between the ill person, the healer, and Christ. The training is held in a private home in Oakmont, for three Saturdays, July 9, 16, & 23; 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Fee is $119, that includes the three sessions. Some scholarships are available. Limited to 12 participants, please register early. Deadline for registration is July 7th. Please see the forms on the long table in Farlander Hall. Call Francis at 579-6726 for further information or email Francis.Geddes@Stanfordalumni.org. Dr. Geddes is author of Contemplative Healing: The Congregation as Healing Community.

There's great conversation going onabout the "Spirit Mass" Pentecost service last Sunday. Some very interesting responses have come to us through the survey forms. Our "Summer Symposium," held each Sunday between the 2 services, will be the place where we look at some of the responses to the service and use them as teaching points regarding both our ancient practices and our contemporary experiments. Fr. Matt's hope is that, together, we can develop a shared vision of where we're headed as a worshiping congregation.
During times of change, the very best thing we can do is to bring our open hearts to discussions of our history and values, and to how we can apply lessons from the past to make the right decisions for the present moment. Please be sure to join us!

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Please mark your calendars now! And please rsvp to Fr. Matt: revml@sonic.netor 579-2604 x102.
