Church of the Incarnation Sunday Announcements
May 22, 2011

We'll be doing baptisms on Pentecost, on June 12. Please contact Fr. Matt if you are interested in a baptism.  And if you've talked to Fr. Matt but you didn't see him actually write down, with a pen, the names of your family members and godparents, please call again and leave a voice message.

Come and celebrate three years of Small Groups. Today is Small Group Sunday and we invite you to visit our Small Group tables and check out the different gatherings we offer. There will be leaders from many of our groups available to speak with you and answer any of your questions. Have an idea for a small group? Great! Pick up an information flyer on how to start your own small group. Small Groups provide opportunities for people to engage one another in a network of mutual trust, deep reflection, spiritual growth, fellowship, support, and pastoral care. Stop by our tables and say hi!

Vegan Bake Sale for ERD: Today after both the 9:15 and 11:15 services, the Animal Ministry Group is hosting a vegan bake sale to benefit Episcopal Relief & Development.  Please stop by the sale in Farlander Hall and enjoy a goodie from the bounty as part of your exploration of Small Group Sunday.

The Men's Group will meet this Wednesday, May 25th in the church at 7 pm. Our group explores the challenges men face in living their lives of faith in a safe, intimate environment. All Men are welcome and we hope to see you there. If you have any questions, please call Mitch Garcia at (707) 703-4162.

Art is the Next Peace: The Small Group workshop begins this Thursday, May 26th in Room 3 (7 pm-9 pm). This workshop is for those who are beginners, intermediate, and future artists of all ages. You will develop love for your personal artwork, overcoming any fears that you might have. The Art Workshop will provide you with the opportunity to explore different mediums, such as: charcoal, pastels, color pencils, watercolors, acrylics and silks in a caring, playful and loving environment.  If you have any questions please contact Carla at 707-239-3943. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

NEXT SUNDAY, May 29th we start our Summer Sunday Schedule, with services at 8 am & 10 am only. This will continue through September 4th. On September 11th, we'll switch back to our three-service schedule (8 am, 9:15 am, & 11:15 am).

The Summer Festival is next Sunday, May 29th after the 10 am service ends. Come one, come all - fun for all ages!  We will have games and a bounce house for the young and young-at-heart. There will also be a pie-eating contest and a hat decorating station for people of all ages!

We'll also have a picnic area set up with blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas, and we'll be featuring a slide show of photos of life at Incarnation, and music.

There is also a change from the latest Newsletter.  Instead of doing a cake walk, the Youth Group will be selling snow cones and cotton candy to raise funds for their mission trip in June to the Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona.

We'd love to share the fun with your friends, so please invite them to join us on May 29th for the Summer Festival.

Be expecting a call, if you haven't gotten one already, from one of our church's leadership team of the North Bay Sponsoring Committee. We're forming small conversational groups throughout the city so that we may get acquainted and/or deepen our relationships with one another. The meetings or "Incarnation Conversations" will begin in early June. We hope you'll say "yes" when invited to join.  If by chance you don't receive a call, forgive our omission and call the church office (707-579-2604) to let them know you'd like to be included.

We hope you have noticed the new Incarnation Yellow Page at both entries to the church.  These are free listings of parishioners who own businesses, which we hope you will support. Please take one, and keep it handy when needing to call on a business for products or services.

Haydn "Stabat Mater" CD's now available! If you missed the Good Friday Concert, or just want to experience the beautiful music again, we have CD's available for the purchase price of $12. Please see Carol Menke (707-542-0452) if you want to buy a CD.

Share and Care is a new group that is forming. This is a group for those who live with pain, depression, trauma, illness, anxiety and/or disability. No one should be alone. A group can often help in a situation that is overwhelming to an individual. To name a hurt can lessen its power. Maybe your experience can help another. Come and share with others who live with pain and illness. Past or present, chronic or acute, physical or mental or all of the preceding. God is always with us and works through us to aid each other. Our first meeting with be Thursday, June 9th (6 pm-7 pm) in the library. If you're interested or would like more information there is a sign-up sheet on the Small Group table. All are welcome.

La Velle Seely is retiring as our rides coordinator after well over ten years of faithful service! We are deeply grateful to La Velle for all the souls she has helped bring to church. This means that we are now in need of a new rides coordinator - please call the pastoral care coordinator, whose phone number is listed at the end of the bulletin, if you are interested in helping out. We promise we won't make you serve for 10 years unless you want to!

Our Open Table ministry needs more food!  Please consider bringing in a contribution. Contact Terri Hobart for more details on what is needed: 707-272-2539.

Words to Ponder:

Have courage for the great sorrows of life, and patience for the small ones. When you have laboriously accomplished your daily tasks, go to sleep in peace. God is awake.
