Church of the Incarnation Sunday Announcements
April 3, 2011

Did you think you were going to come shop at Heavenly Treasures today? Sorry, the Open House has been postponed until a later date, so check your bulletin for more info to come.

Come to a Lenten Evensong service this evening, April 3 at 5:00 pm, here at the Church of the Incarnation! Presented by Cantiamo Sonoma, directed by Carol Menke. Cantiamo is attracting a growing number of listeners for its Evensong services in local churches. Originating in Anglican ritual, Evensong combines chant, hymns, Renaissance polyphony, and modern choral works with Biblical readings and prayers. The intent is to provide listeners with a peaceful hour of music and meditation at day's end. Cantiamo's Evensong services are the only ones offered in Sonoma County.  If you haven't been to an Evensong service, come to the church this evening, April 3 at 5:00 p.m. The Church of the Incarnation is planning to offer quarterly Evensongs - more information will be forthcoming.

April Guild Meeting: The Guild of the Incarnation meeting on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 will begin at 10:30 am in the church with a Lenten Communion.  The business meeting will follow at 11:00 am, with potluck lunch at 12:00 noon. The program for April will be presented by Sister Alice, of the Sisters of the Transfiguration, who will speak on the book: Let Your Life Speak by Parker Palmer.  All are welcome to join us.

Our Lenten Series continues this Wednesday, April 6 with The Gospel of Church: Why go to church? How does the gospel speak through the Body of Christ? Anna Eng will lead us through a study of 1 Corinthians as we explore our notions of church and our place within it. Please join us at 6 pm for our Lenten supper and then we gather in the church a little before 7 for our study. All are welcome.

Our next "Twilight" Pipe Organ Mini Recital will be Friday evening, April 8, 6 pm. John Carl Hirten, organist at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Belvedere, will be playing a recital of music by J. S. BACH. Following the recital, as usual, all are invited to a 'no host' dinner at a local restaurant with our guest artist. A free-will offering is taken at the event to offset costs and support the purchase of our 32' pedal stop on the organ. Please contact Harold Julander, 707-694-1896 for any further details or questions.

The Evening Women's Group will meet on Tuesday, April 12, at 7 pm, at the home of B. J. Yeager. Note: Because the 3rd Tuesday is during Holy Week, we're meeting on the 2nd Tuesday for April only. Next month, we will meet on the 3rd Tuesday as usual. All women are welcome to join us. We are a supportive group providing a place to share our lives and our spiritual journeys with each other, building friendships as we go. If you have any questions, please contact Donna Wiuff at (707) 837-8768.

8 am Kitchen (Coffee Hour) Help STILL Needed. We need some volunteers to help pour coffee and bring goodies one Sunday per month - we have four Sundays open and need 6 people. Please contact Marilyn Payne (707-545-2597) if interested.

What Are Small Groups? A Small Group is simply a group of people who gather on a regular basis for friendship, conversation, and support. We have Small Groups covering a variety of different topics and new groups forming all the time, looking for people just like you! Check out the Small Groups table in Farlander Hall and if you would like more information, check out our Website. To sign up or please call Mitch Garcia at 707-703-4162 or email  smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org. If you are interested in starting a small group, please call or email!

Centering Prayer: Ever wonder what Centering Prayer is all about? On our website there is short video introduction by Fr. Thomas Keating explaining this contemplative practice. Go to the Small Group webpage and then click on Prayer + Contemplative. This group gathers on Mondays at 5 pm in the Clergy Conference Room. All are welcome.

Volunteers are needed for our rides ministry! For many years, Incarnation has matched volunteer drivers with requests for rides to church or to appointments. Sometimes the rider has physical limitations requiring at least a mini-van and a driver able to assist the person in and out of the vehicle. But not always-smaller cars are fine for other requests. Ideally, we need drivers on the list from all three of our services, but the list has grown a bit short. If you are willing to offer this service even occasionally, please call the Church Office (579-2604) or La Velle Seely (528-2700). And speaking of La Velle Seely, she has faithfully served for years as our rides coordinator and is now ready to pass her ministry on to another volunteer. This is mainly a phone ministry, matching a request for a ride to someone on the list of drivers. Please consider this opportunity to serve, from your own home! Call the Church Office (579-2604) or Alice Macondray, Pastoral Care Coordinator (539-4403) if you're interested.
