Lenten Series and Supper: This coming Wednesday (March 23) at 6 pm is the Lenten Supper in Farlander and at 7 pm is Fr. Matt's Lenten Series. This week the topic is "The Gospel of the Blues: Emotional authenticity and its place in liturgical music." Come and join us, all are welcome!
Japan Relief Efforts: Would you like to help with the Japan Relief efforts in a direct way? Consider sending a care package to Theresa Fritz's cousin Elaine and her husband Bill, and their neighbors. Bill is stationed in the Air Force in Misawa, Japan. They live just outside the base approximately 2 hours from the epicenter of the quake and continue to feel aftershocks between 3 and 6. Their area was without power for 4 days and they are concerned power may go out again. They live more than 50 miles from any nuclear plant so they are not being evacuated. They can use: batteries (any size), unscented candles, battery powered lanterns, blankets, and non-perishable food (as they are unsure when shipments will arrive). If you would like to mail a care package to Elaine, which she will share with her neighbors and students (she teaches English) you can use a post office flat rate box ($4.95/$10.95/$12.95) and send it to: Elaine Ortiz-Harrison, PSC 76 Box 2266, APO AP 96319-0001. If you want to do more, you can donate $ to the Episcopal Relief & Development Fund.
Ask the Rector! There is a new page on our site entitled "Ask the Rector" where you can read questions submitted to Fr. Matt and his answers. You can also email Fr. Matt and ask your own questions. Check it out by going to our website and looking for Fr. Matt's picture on the right hand side (underneath the Sunday Sermons). Click on "Ask The Rector" or the icon with the faces.

Volunteers are needed for our rides ministry! For many years, Incarnation has matched volunteer drivers with requests for rides to church or to appointments. Sometimes the rider has physical limitations requiring at least a mini-van and a driver able to assist the person in and out of the vehicle. But not always-smaller cars are fine for other requests. Ideally, we need drivers on the list from all three of our services, but the list has grown a bit short. If you are willing to offer this service even occasionally, please call the Church Office (579-2604) or La Velle Seely (528-2700). And speaking of La Velle Seely, she has faithfully served for years as our rides coordinator and is now ready to pass her ministry on to another volunteer. This is mainly a phone ministry, matching a request for a ride to someone on the list of drivers. Please consider this opportunity to serve, from your own home! Call the Church Office (579-2604) or Alice Macondray, Pastoral Care Coordinator (539-4403) if you're interested.
Small Group Alert: The Poetry Group is no longer meeting monthly. All small groups must have at least three people actively involved in order to remain open. Our Poetry Group has not been able to sustain that number. We will keep it on the website as inactive for 30 days, and if anyone would like to join the group, please contact Mitch at smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org or call him (703-4162).
Website Volunteers Needed: Do you have crazy website skills? Do you understand words like html, xml, Flash, CSS, DHTML...and get excited? Would you like to help in updating and designing webpages for the church site??!! If so, please call Mitch Garcia (703-4162) or email smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org.
The Scarf Project: Would you be willing to knit or crochet a scarf for a homeless person? Every Sunday several dozen homeless people go back out into the cold after sharing breakfast provided by the Open Table Ministry. I am making scarves to be given to our Sunday morning guests at Christmas-time. Although I am starting now, next December is coming. Scarves should be practical, about 50 to 55 inches long and 8 to 10 inches wide. Garter stitch (all knit) is fine but I am hoping some of the expert knitters will use their creativity. Keep that in mind when choosing yarn that most of these will be given to men, and that the scarves should be easily washable. Crocheted scarves should of the same size and washability. Please help me in this practical ministry, we will need about 100 scarves. (Yes, it is possible, if many people contribute.) I will be glad to take donations of yarn. So clean out your yarn stashes and unfinished yarn projects and help keep a homeless person warm next winter. Contact me, Debora Leitner (523-1536), for more information.
Animal Ministry Group: There is a new exciting webpage for this group. On this page you will discover what Special Events this group is planning. There is a section titled "Lenten Ideas" and more great information to read and download. Check it out by going to www.incarnation-sr.org/small-groups-at-church-ofthe-incarnation/AnimalM.php
8 am Kitchen (Coffee Hour) Help STILL Needed. We need some volunteers to help pour coffee and bring goodies one Sunday per month - we have four Sundays open and need 6 people. Please contact Marilyn Payne (707-545-2597) if interested.
The Outreach Commission Needs You! The Outreach Commission is looking for new people to join our group. The commission considers and recommends to the vestry ways in which our resources can be best employed, with the objective to make a positive Christian impact on the world around us. The group currently meets about once every other month, so the commitment is low but the need is high! Please contact Stephanie Blair if you are interested: 837-2972. Thank you!!
Please heed the NO RIGHT ON RED at the intersection of Humboldt Street and College Avenue. If you are stopped by a policeman, your fine will be $270. (The same as if you ran a red light!) More than one of us has been stopped, don't let it happen to you! And remember: there is no law that says you HAVE to turn right on red. So if in doubt, don't do it! Your safety and the safety of others is always more important the person honking in back of you!
