We are all invited to two important conversations with other people of faith in Santa Rosa. These
conversations will give us a chance to get to know one another and make
connections around issues that are important to us. These conversations
are part of the North Bay Sponsoring Committee's work to help congregations
connect with each other. All are invited! "The Personal Impacts of the Economic
Crisis," Monday, September 27, 7 pm Resurrection Parish, 303 Stony Point Road,
Santa Rosa "Wanting the Best for our Children in
Sonoma County," Monday, October 4, 7 pm Shomrei Torah, 2600 Bennett Valley Road,
Santa Rosa Next Sunday, October 3rd, Bishop Barry Beisner will be here for his yearly visit for Confirmation. On that day,
we'll have two services only: 8 am and 10 am. Confirmation will be at the 10 am
service. Join us for this unique service and special day! The
Seasonal Flu Vaccine is available
now! While there are many different flu viruses, the flu vaccine protects
against the three viruses that research suggests will be most common; the
2010-2011 flu vaccine will protect against an influenza A H3N2 virus, an
influenza B virus and the 2009 H1N1 virus that caused so much illness last
season. Everyone 6 months of age and older should get vaccinated against the
flu. Children younger than 6 months are at high risk of serious flu illness,
but are too young to be vaccinated. People who care for them should be
vaccinated instead. SAVE THE DATE! Sunday, October
24 following the 11:15 a.m. service the Sonoma Council on Aging will come to
Incarnation for a presentation on housing options for seniors in Sonoma County.
Lunch will be served. More to come! For further information contact pastorgail@incarnation-sr.org(or call 707-579-2604 ext. 103). "Save
the Date" and Come to the Cabaret! The St. Cecilia Choir is
already preparing for the annual Cabaret fundraiser that helps to defray the
cost of the Good Friday orchestra. The Cabaret will be earlier this
year - Sunday, November 14 at 7:00 p.m. and there will be music from
theater, jazz, and a few surprise guests! It promises to be a wonderful
night .... tickets will be available soon! Volunteer Drivers Needed!
We try to offer the service of driving people to doctor's appointments, church,
other special church events, etc. But to do that, we need some more drivers! If
you have some extra time on your hands and might be willing to help out, or if
you are coming here anyway and would be willing to give someone a ride
occasionally, call La Velle Seely (707-528-2700). Thank you!

Small Groups at Incarnation
What Are Small Groups?A Small Group is simply a group of
people who gather on a regular basis for, friendship, conversation and support.
We have Small Groups covering a variety of different topics and new groups
forming all the time, looking for people just like you! Check out the Small
Groups table in Farlander and if you would like more information, sign-up or
please call Mitch Garcia at 707-703-4162 or email smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org.
If you are interested in starting a small group, please call or email! Centering Prayer:Meets every Monday from 5:00-6:15 pm in the Clergy
Conference Room. Centering Prayer is a technique of silent prayer that prepares
us to receive the gift of contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience
God's presence within us. This practice of prayer is both a relationship with
God and a discipline to foster that relationship. All are welcome! Poetry Gathering: The Poetry Group is back from its summer break! They
meet the 2nd Monday of each month (3-4:30) in a local home.
"Poetry is the language of devotion in prayer, chant and song. Reading
poetry creates clarity, deepens and expands spiritual inquiry, and cultivates
wisdom, compassion, self-confidence, patience and love." (Robert McDowell).
This groups explore a wide range of poets and their poetry. Through readings
and discussions we discover the richness of this art and how it can be used as
a spiritual practice in our lives.
Philosophy
Group:Come check out the philosophy reading
and discussion group. Philosophy is traditionally defined as the love of
wisdom, but the most famous philosopher of antiquity (Socrates) claimed to know
nothing at all. In the same spirit, Proverbs 3:5 warns that human
understanding may not be so firm as we believe it to be. Philosophy
studies matters that are elusive, yet there is something satisfying about
the activity of exploring itself. Join a group where you can explore the
limits of your understanding and look deeper into questions about knowledge,
truth, justice, being and ethics. We will read texts as a group and come
together to ask questions and discuss them in a spirit of openness and
inquiry. For location, date, and time, please call Mitch Garcia
(707-703-4162) or email: kennethwayneblair@gmail.com.
Bridge Group: Bridge--anyone? Are you interested in bridge for fun, friendship and fellowship! All are welcome: experienced players, beginners, and those wanting to learn. If you are interested please contact smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org or call 707-703-4162. Why should I be in a Small Group? The simple answer is: you will not
grow in your relationship to God in isolation. Sunday worship is where we
gather to celebrate and praise God as a body, in a large group setting. Small
Groups are where we see God working in our own life as well as the lives of
others. Small Groups are gatherings where we can encourage each other and where
we are connected with one another-Small Groups are where this happens. If you are
not yet involved, now is the time!
