Mark your calendars now for the
All-Parish Annual Meeting! Saturday, Jan 23, beginning at 2 pm with a
special meeting on a possibly important new program for 2010, followed by a
wine & cheese reception at 3:30 and our business meeting at 4 pm. This is
an important time to elect our Vestry and Delegates to Diocesan Convention,
examine our budget, and discuss as a community where we've been and where we're
going. All members and interested parties who care about the church are
encouraged to attend. Also, it's a unique time of fellowship-one of the few
events where members from all three of our services come together!
Numina presents: Taize
Caritas Chant and Prayer - the fourth Friday of each month. Please join
us on January 22, 2010 at 7:30 pm for an interfaith candlelit service of
contemplative chant in the tradition of Taize France. Sung prayer is
accompanied by piano and cello, with a period of silent meditation. This
lovely evening invites you into the depths of your heart. Each evening
begins with a presentation by cultural historian Kayleen Asbo. We look forward
to you becoming a part of our Taize community.
Youth Activities on February 7: Souper
Bowl of Caring and Pancake
Breakfast! More
than 20 years ago, the Souper Bowl of Caring began with a simple prayer from a
single youth group: "Lord, as we enjoy the Super Bowl football game, help us to
be mindful of those without even a bowl of soup to eat." Half of the money
donated will be given to The Living Room, and the other half to the St.
Andrew's Food Program. The youth will be there at the end of the service to
collect your donation, and it doesn't matter how large or small it is - a
little from many can go a long way. Thank you!!And then, after
the 8 am and 9:15 am services, join us for Pancake Breakfast, made just for you
in Farlander Hall!
Empty Before the World:
A Lenten Quiet Day. Saturday, February 20.
Lent begins in ashes, moves to Jesus standing in the simple truth of himself,
silent before Pilate, and ends in the silence of the tomb. Come to the
welcoming space of The Bishop's Ranch in Healdsburg and offer your self to the
silence. A day of quiet with contemplative worship. Presentations offered by
Maggie Ross. Fee: $65 per person, including lunch and dinner. See the Bulletin
Board in Farlander Hall for more info, or visit
www.bishopsranch.org for more info.
Small Groups Information:
Bible Study
Gathering: We meet every other
Tuesday in a local home. We gather to explore the scriptures and how to live
out God's word in our lives as individuals and as a faith community. We
currently are exploring the Lectionary readings before each Sunday. This is a
marvelous way to interact with the readings as a community and ask
questions and share your "word about God" with others. If this sounds like
something you might want to explore, please email Mitch Garcia at
smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org, or call 703-4162.
Centering Prayer: Meets every
Monday from 5:15-6:15 pm in the Clergy Conference Room. Centering Prayer is a
technique of silent prayer that prepares us to receive the gift of
contemplative prayer, prayer in which we experience God's presence within us.
This practice of prayer is both a relationship with God and a discipline to
foster that relationship. All are welcome!
Morning Prayer Gatheringmeets every day (except
Wednesday) at 8 am in the Marian Chapel. This community meets for a half-hour
of prayer using the Book of Common Prayer as our guide. After prayers we meet
in the library for a time of fellowship and a light breakfast. All are welcomed
to share in this time of care and love towards one another and the body of
Christ.
Poetry Gathering: Do you enjoy reading and
discussing poetry? Do you wish you knew other people with the same passion? We
currently have one group meeting monthly. If you're interested in joining a
group, please sign-up in Farlander Hall, or email Mitch Garcia at
smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org or call 703-4162.
A reminder that if you have any
questions about Small Groups or would like to offer a suggestion for a new
Small Group, please call Mitch Garcia at 703-4162 or email him at
smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org.
Christmas Cards
for Crafts: Please
bring to Farlander Hall any "used" Christmas cards. There will be a box/bag for
them. They are given to A Happy Place, a preschool for at risk children,
Littlest Angels preschool and daycare, our own The Living Room and the former
London House nursing facility. All groups are most grateful. Thank you.
Help Wanted Running the Bookstore! As of the
end of January, Maggie will need someone to help her run the Bookstore. If the
idea of serving our Church in this capacity interests you and you would like to
find out more about what the job entails, please give her a call. Running the
Bookstore can be very challenging, but also very rewarding in the opportunity
it provides to serve our parishioners and to further the mission of our church.
Maggie can be reached at (707) 495-2494.
Our Values, Vision and Mission Statements
are now on our website.
Set forth in these documents are "Who We Are" (Our Vision of Ourselves), "What
We Believe" (Core Values), and "What We Do" (Our Mission as a Community of
Faith). Please take a moment to visit the site (
www.incarnation-sr.org) and read the statements. You can
find the link on the front page of the church site. Check it out.
The Flower Chart for the year 2010 is now on the wall in the back of the
church. Please sign up to donate flowers on the date you prefer. More than one
person or family can sign up on a specific date. You will be contacted before
the date for your memorial or celebration wishes to be noted in the bulletin.
Now is
the time to clean out your closets for gently used winter coats, hats, gloves, rain gear, and
scarves for our Winter
Coat and All Things Warm Drive (for St. Andrew's Food Program). Winter
clothing items can be placed in the designated box in Farlander Hall. A warm
coat or rain jacket is very much appreciated by the guests of the St. Andrew's
Feeding Program, who often are homeless or live in unheated housing. Thank you
very much. Incarnation has been very generous in contributing to this program
in the past few years.
Come to a training for all Eucharistic
Visitors, Friendly Visitors, Flower Ministers and Pastoral Care Coordinators! Saturday, March 20, 2010 in
Farlander Hall. 8:30 am (Sharp!) to 4:30 pm. Continental breakfast,
gourmet lunch, and snacks will be
served! This
will be a day of fellowship and reflection on how best to accompany and give
emotional support to those we serve. We will discuss listening skills,
standards of confidentiality and the work done by each ministry group. All
are invited who would like to explore the possibility of serving on the
Pastoral Care team. (Please note that those presently serving and wish to continue serving should plan
to attend.)
