This week, Numina
presents...
Celebrate the
Winter Solstice - Chant and Movement TODAY from 2-4 pm.
Experience the Lord's Prayer in the original Aramaic language spoken by Jesus.
Mariam Baker will lead us in a body-centered practice to deepen our
understanding of the Lord's Prayer through movement, chant and meditation.
Based on Mariam's extensive work with Neil Douglas-Klotz, author of Prayers of
the Cosmos.
Taize Caritas Worship,
Art and Poetry for the Nativity on December 25th, 2009 at 7:30 pm. An offering
of ecumenical worship based on the principles of the Taize Community in France.
The service begins in Farlander Hall with a presentation and discussion of a
saint, writer, or artist who speaks to us about the spiritual journey, followed
by a candlelit contemplative service of chanting and silent meditation in the
church. The service will be led by Kayleen Asbo and Robin O'Brien. Healing
prayer will be offered by the Caritas healing team, available in the side
Marian Chapel.

Small Group
Information....
The Tuesday Morning
Study Group will be on holiday on
December 22nd and 29th. They will next meet on January 5th.
Home Bible Study
Gathering: Starting January 5th (Tuesday -- early
evening) and continuing every other week we gather to explore the scriptures
and how to live out God's word in our lives as individuals and as a faith
community. We will begin our journey exploring the Lectionary readings before
each Sunday. This is a marvelous way to interact with the readings as a
community and ask the hard questions and share your "word about God" with
others. If this sounds like something you might want to explore, please email
Mitch Garcia at
smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org or call him at (707)
703-4162.
Poetry Group: Do you enjoy reading and
discussing poetry? Do you wish you knew other people with the same passion? We
currently have one group meeting monthly. At this time, this group (led by
Virginia and Frances Geddes) is at capacity. Virginia and Francis have offered
to lead a workshop to answer questions, like How does a poetry group function?
How are the poems chosen? What can one experience and discover in a poetry
group? They will describe the development of the Incarnation Poetry Group they
have led. They will lead a discussion of one or two poems with those present.
We are looking for people who want to sponsor a group in their home. If you are
interested in attending this demonstration, learning more about, or
participating in poetry groups at Incarnation, please contact Mitch Garcia at
(707) 703-4162, or email him at
smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org
Please note: There will be incense
at the 7 pm Christmas Eve service, so if you are sensitive to such things,
try planning on going to the 11 pm service, where there will be no incense.
The Church
Office will be closed at noon on Christmas Eve and all day Christmas Day.We'll be having a
special Discovery Sunday service
on January 3rd at 9:15. We'll be "singing goodbye to Christmas" by shaping the
service around our favorite Christmas carols! So bring the whole family for a
creative last carol-sing on the 10th day of Christmastide!
Via Media: It's that time! The Via
Media sessions will be starting January 5th (Tuesday at 6:30
pm) and going for seven consecutive sessions. Fr. Matt along with John Cramer
will be leading these classes. Via Media is a series of classes that explore
our faith from a unique Episcopalian point of view. Topics such as the Holy
Spirit, The Bible, Jesus Christ are talked about and you are encouraged to ask
your questions and explore with others through conversation, friendship,
worship and radical hospitality! Each class starts off with a delicious meal, a
time of fellowship and getting to know one another. There is a sign-up sheet on
the Small Groups table in Farlander Hall. If you want to learn more Via Media
or about being confirmed at Incarnation, visit our website at
www.incarnation-sr.org and go to Christian Ed
- Adult Education or contact Mitch Garcia at
smallgroups@incarnation-sr.org or call (707) 703-4162.
This year we are reviving our tradition of celebrating Epiphany with a worship service on January 6th,
2010, followed by an all-parish dinner. Ron Rausch is coordinating the dinner. The
service will begin at 5:30 with the supper at 6:30. Details to follow!
Christmas Cards for Crafts: Please bring to
Farlander Hall any "used" Christmas cards. There will be a box/bag for them.
They are given to A Happy Place, a preschool for at-risk children, Littlest
Angels preschool and daycare, our own The Living Room and the former London
House nursing facility. All groups are most grateful. Thank you.
Incarnation Bookstore Update: We have
beautiful photo note cards of Incarnation's stained glass windows, as well as
larger matted prints. The photos were taken by our parishioner, Susan
Seely, and she is donating 20% of the proceeds to the Alleluia Choir. Please
stop by and take a look at the beautiful photos.
Just a reminder that
Incarnation is a Scent-Free zone!! Many people are allergic to fragrances
and it is really best for all if perfumes and men's colognes/after shave lotion
are not worn on our campus. Thank you for your consideration!
The Flower Chart for the year 2010 is now on the wall in the back of the
church. Please sign up to donate flowers on the date you prefer. More than one
person or family can sign up on a specific date. You will be contacted before
the date for your memorial or celebration wishes to be noted in the bulletin.
