Serving Christ By Serving Others ~This morning, August 23rd, Fr. Eric Duff, the Executive Director of Episcopal community Services, will be the celebrant at Holy Communion. Eric is intimately acquainted with the many outreach programs in the parishes of our diocese and is known to have a passion for reaching out with mercy to all in our extended community. He will be available between services at 9:15 in the library to share his enthusiasm and insights about the most successful parish outreach activities and hear your input. All are welcome.

The last "Odd Job Saturday" for the summer will be next Saturday, the 29th from 8 am until 12 noon. We still have some special projects to finish up, as well as the grounds to spruce up for the coming fall. I'm looking forward to seeing all you regular volunteers as well as anyone who hasn't had a chance to come out yet this year. There are still plenty of things to do, with a variety of choices of jobs. Signup sheets are in Farlander Hall, or you may just show up. For any questions or suggestions, ask Glen Kennedy (540-4493).

Movie Group: Small Groups is hosting a Movie Night on August 29th at 5:00 pm in Farlander. We will be screening "Gran Torino", directed by and starring Clint Eastwood. This is a kick-off event for the new Movie Group here at our church. Please join us for popcorn, soft-drinks, candy and fellowship! For more information on the movie there is a flyer on the Small Group table in Farlander, along with a sign-up sheet if you're interested in attending. Guild of the Incarnation Fall Meeting - After a busy summer the Guild is ready to start the Fall Season on Tuesday, September 1st, at 11:00 am with a short business meeting. Our Salad and Dessert Pot-luck Luncheon will start at 12:00 noon. All are welcome to join us. The program, at 1:00 pm, will be a speaker from The Children's Village of Sonoma County. She will tell us about this unique non-profit Home for Foster Children. I know this will be an interesting and informative program. It will be fun to join together for lunch and visit with each other.

The Prayer of the Heart group practice meeting in September is Tuesday, September 8th, 7:30-9 pm, in the church. All who wish to practice the Prayer of the Heart (the Jesus Prayer) in a group are welcome to come. If any questions or for more information, please contact Lisa Jang, 527-9549.

A note from Claire: I want to extend a very hearty thank you to all of the volunteers who helped cover the office while I was away on vacation. Your generosity is greatly appreciated!

Words to Ponder:
Hope, O my soul, hope. You know neither the day nor the hour. Watch carefully, for everything passes quickly, even though your impatience turns a very short time into a long one.
