Staff Training &
Staff Training is a top priority of Global Teen Challenge. This is accomplished though conferences, Leadership Training Institutes and through our training website iteenchallenge.org. All GTC staff are involved in providing training, currently Gregg Fischer and Daryel Erickson are working full time in this area. Gregg facilitates the iteenchallenge.org website and works with TC curriculum and teacher training. Daryel provides Lead Like Jesus encounters, develops new training programs and curriculum and is liaison with Global University. |

Greetings!
The Prayer Summit was a powerful time of prayer and preaching. See Jerry Nance's report as well as links to all of the video from this great event.
This month our feature is on the Staff Training department and the continuing development of the iteenchallenge.org training website. Also check out the new 3 month staff training schools article.
We thank the Lord for all He is doing all over the world through this ministry.

" The Spirit of the Lord was in the House!"
 |
Jerry Nance
|
By Jerry Nance PhD, President, Global Teen Challenge
I must tell you that before the first note was played on the piano and guitars, the Spirit of the Lord was in the house. There was such anticipation of the presence of the Lord that the room was electrifying. God was there in an amazing way.
The Prayer Summit began with an opening prayer and presenting Don Wilkerson with a framed picture of the February 28, 1958, LIFE magazine article of the boys that were on trial and some quotes taken from The Cross and the Switchblade. Don shared that when he received the invitation to come to this Prayer Summit, he knew immediately he needed to attend.
Don Wilkerson, Keynote Speaker
We had a wonderful time of worship and prayer and then Don Wilkerson, a Founder and Father of Teen Challenge preached the opening message. Don said the Prayer Summit was one of the most significant events in the 54 year history of Teen Challenge. He went on to say that prayer was in the DNA of this ministry and that it was significant that this Prayer Summit was called to refocus our ministry at this time.
Don brought an amazing word from the Lord and shared from the historical perspective of the significance of prayer in the roots of Teen Challenge. He shared many stories of the early years of Teen Challenge in Brooklyn and how God used prayer to transform lives. You can listen to his full message and all the other messages at the video streaming archive link provided in this e-newsletter below.
Fresh Touch of God's Spirit
When you think of 40 hours of continuous prayer, praise, preaching and worship on February 9-11, you can only imagine how much God did for those who participated. We had students of all ages, executive directors from the southeast region, West Virginia, New York, staff, board members and Global TC team members in attendance. I can tell you that it was amazing to watch how God would individually minister to each of the participants and bring a fresh touch of His Spirit on their lives.
Streaming Video Participants
In addition, we had Teen Challenge's from around the world joining us by streaming video. We know that we had Teen Challenge family from Australia, Cambodia, Kenya, Scotland, Swaziland, Liberia, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Trinidad, and India watching with us. At any given time, we had from 32 to 50 sites joining us via live feed.
Centers in the USA reported showing the live feed to their students and having the power of the Lord come down and bring a genuine spirit of prayer over the student body. I get so blessed when I hear these reports because our students need to know the power that comes from getting into the presence of the Lord which comes from prayer.
God spoke to me to Rebuild/Restore the Altar (1 Kings 18:30) in my life and to do my best to bring that same conviction to the Teen Challenge centers and leaders that I have influence over. I am making it a priority in my life and at Teen Challenge. I have purposed to rise early in the morning to spend extra time in God's Word and in prayer. I am feeling the difference in my life, family and leadership.
I can do nothing but what the Lord is asking me to do, and you must follow the direction of the Lord for your life. If prayer is not a priority, please take some time with the Lord and see what a difference it will make for you. Rebuild the Altar if needed.
God Bless You
Jerry Nance

iTeenChallenge.org still growing

With over 900 downloadable items in 16 different languages, the website iTeenChallenge.org continues to grow in providing Staff Training materials, Student Curriculum and other helpful Resources for Teen Challenge ministries around the world.
Our top priority is to make this website available and beneficial to more people around the world. We are continuing to add new courses and new translations. Every month we are seeing more than 2,000 people accessing the website from all over the world.
Just this week we received a call from someone asking if we had the Group Studies for New Christians (GSNC) curriculum in Romanian. They are starting a transitional home for older teens coming out of the orphanages in Romania. We had just received the Romanian version of this curriculum in recent weeks, so we were able to pass it on, even though it is not yet posted to iTeenChallenge.org. The couple heading up this new ministry knew very little about Teen Challenge, and had recently visited a Teen Challenge in Mississippi and learned of this curriculum.
Another common request we receive from TC centers is for a recommended schedule to systematically train their staff. We have 13 schedules for different areas of staff training. You can access these from the home page as well as in the main staff training part of the website-there is a tab at the top right corner called "Training Plans." These plans list courses that are currently on the website which you can download and use in training your staff. These plans include: training new staff, program staff training, GSNC Teacher Training, PSNC Teacher Training, Counseling, and many more. A certificate is also available for you to personalize and give to all those who complete this training.
Not Just for Teen Challenge staff.
We strongly encourage you to tell others about this website and the free materials available to them-similar ministries to TC, rescue missions, jail & prison ministries, churches and others involved in helping people who are struggling with life-controlling problems.
Teen Challenge in San Antonio, Texas, has a "Resources" page on their website at www.tctexas.org They have direct links to 12 different resources on iTeenChallenge.org including Enabling, Raising the bottom, When they don't want help, Delusion, denial & deception, Mending a broken heart, and more. Over 100 people per month are accessing these resources from the Texas website. We encourage you to consider doing the same on your ministry website.
New Downloads Coming
We have a lot more materials waiting to be uploaded, and we are also working on getting the GSNC & PSNC curriculum translated into more languages. We just uploaded the Character Qualities Class in Spanish. We are also making plans on designing the website to be available in multiple languages, to make it easier for people to navigate the website who do not read English.
How You Can Help
If you would like to help translate materials for this website, please contact us for details on how you can help. If you have other materials-staff training, student curriculum or other resources, we encourage you to send these to us so we can add them to this website.
We also would like to hear from you on how you are using the website. If you are encountering problems, or have suggestions, please send that as well. Email: gtc@globaltc.org

New 3 month Staff Training Schools launched
We are excited about the launch of two new regional staff training schools. The Mexico City School opened the beginning of February with 18 participants, four of which are from Honduras. The other participants are from Teen Challenge centers in Mexico with some coming from other similar ministries. The schools are 3 months in length and are being hosted at residential Teen Challenge ministries in partnership with Global Teen Challenge. GTC Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Director, Duane Henders and Dave & Patty Batty were in Mexico City for the launch and provided instruction for the first week of the school. Here is a comment from Dave. " The first week's schedule was intense-from 9AM to 9PM-yet the enthusiasm of the students grew as the week progressed. They have a great hunger to learn how to make their ministries more effective in bringing God's transforming power into the lives of the students in their programs." Another school will be starting the first week of March in Itamonte, Brazil. There is also the potential for 2 or more schools to open in the LAC region later this year. The Global Teen Challenge Training Schools are focused on classroom instruction and practical experience to train Teen Challenge graduates, people from the local church and others who are interested in learning the basics of Teen Challenge ministry. Ministry Opportunity in Tasmania
The new Teen Challenge men's center in Tasmania, Australia is requesting the help of 2 experienced TC male workers who would be willing to give 6 months to 1 year of missionary service to their center until local staff can be recruited and trained. There is a Director but no staff. The center will provide room and board, but can't provide a salary. Any interested worker would be required to pay their own transportation to Australia and any incidental personal expenses. If you are interested please contact the Global Teen Challenge office.
