Greetings!

It's amazing to see all the training of Teen Challenge leaders going on around the world. We highlight just a few of these in this issue of the Leadership Link-  Africa, Mexico and Asia Pacific. These are only three of many other training opportunities available to TC leaders.

We hope you will also establish systematic training for your staff at your local center. One of the places where you can find a great number of resources is at the website: www.iTeenChallenge.org.   We are continuing to expand the training materials on this site. Please let know how you are using these.

In this issue we honor John Macey, retiring as the national Teen Challenge leader of United Kingdom. We also honor the work of Teen Challenge in Bombay, India, celebrating 20 years of ministry.

May God's blessing be on you and your ministry.

Faithfulness to the Call of God By Dr. Jerry Nance

Faithfulness to the call of God no matter the challenges is the only way to accomplish the kinds of things we see happening in Teen Challenge of Bombay. I just returned from their 20th anniversary celebration. This is a leadership story of a faithful man and woman who answered God's call to go to a city and make a difference. Now after 20 years you can see the lasting results in the lives of hundreds of street children who are now living in Teen Challenge homes. They are getting an education and a chance in life that would not have happened had it not been for the faithfulness of KK Deveraj, his staff, the board of directors and many volunteers.

Ministry to children of prostitutes

Deveraj has declared war on child slavery and with much prayer and fasting God is bringing into relationship the kinds of people it will take to stop child slavery in Bombay. This act of faith will bring much press to Teen Challenge in Bombay. We need to keep Deveraj and his team in our prayers as he will need the guidance, wisdom and protection of the Lord these coming months. The brothel owners and pimps will not be happy that the press and police attention will spotlight the injustices that are happening in the red light district of Bombay.

young men have been set free from addiction. This only happens when you have a leader who will face the challenges that come and stand firm over time.

Teen Challenge leaders from around the world joined in the 20th Anniversary Celebration which was held earlier this month in Mumbai (Bombay). God held the rain off and we all had a wonderful time celebrating with the Teen Challenge Bombay family.

Big Congratulations to Teen Challenge Bombay for their 20th year of ministry to the hurting youth and adults in Bombay. We commend the leadership of KK Deveraj for his faithfulness to the Lord. The many accomplishments that have been achieved over the last 20 years have come as a result of the faithfulness of KK Deveraj and his staff.

Video, testimony and a wonderful night of celebration chronicled how God brought them from a single coffee house in Aberdare, to outreaches, buses, detox and residential Teen Challenge centers across Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

John is also one of the founding board members of Global Teen

Challenge and has long been involved in assisting Teen Challenge centers around the world, including Bombay, India, Swaziland, and more. John's life has been a great inspiration to many students and staff through his 30 years of ministry.

Swaziland LTI November 2010

Africa Leadership Training

By Doug Wever, GTC Regional Director for Africa

The Leadership Training Institute (LTI) held earlier this month in Swaziland, Africa, is

an annual Global Teen Challenge training event where regional Teen Challenge directors and staff attend an intense week of continuing professional ministry education. This week's event for the Southern Africa Region represented over 120 personnel from multiple countries in the region, such as Botswana, Zambia, and South Africa.

Not only are these events important training, they bring together the Teen Challenge family such as those pictured above for fellowship, encouragement, and reviving.  The training is then multiplied when they return to their respective ministries.  Some folks attend who are in the process of beginning Teen Challenge ministries.  In Swaziland, we had had folks from Botswana and Zimbabwe with that agenda.

A very special Thanks to Teen Challenge Swaziland Staff for awesome preparation and execution, special thanks to Steve Pippen , Executive Director, Teen Challenge, B.C., Canada for coming out via Nairobi, and the staff and interns of Teen Challenge of Southern California, Southgate, for making the trip and whose assistance  was invaluable!

Mexico and Honduras Curriculum Training

Earlier this month Gregg and Linda Fischer along with Daryel Erickson presented a Personal Studies for New Christians (PSNC) curriculum training in Mexico City. This is the first time this extensive training has been offered in Spanish for the Latin America - Caribbean region. Staff from Teen Challenge Mexico centers as well as similar ministries and churches was eager to learn how to begin using these discipleship tools.

It was exciting to see the teachers work on their classroom skills by listening and being actively involved in classes such as Creative Teaching Methods, Operating the PSNC Classroom, Personal Application Goals, Balancing Ministry & Personal Time, Helping Students with Memorization, and many others.

A similar teaching is being held the week of November 15th-19th in Honduras with the additional help of Duane Henders and Claudio Ghiringhelli, executive director of Argentina Teen Challenge.

TC Jamaica Praising God for Catchment
Tank

Jamaica Teen Challenge earlier this year acquired property to expand their ministry in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. One obstacle that had to be overcome was the lack of a water supply since this property is located outside the city. To drill a well was going to be very expensive.

Recently when some of the Teen Challenge students were working at the location, one of the students found a pipe. He followed the pipe up the hillside and discovered this large catchment tank that no one knew was there.

With a little cleanup and repair this rainwater catchment tank will be ready to supply all the water needs of this future new facility.
