FORGIVENESS By Dr. Jerry Nance
When you are betrayed
by someone you had the deepest respect for, it really hurts. It's challenging
to think about forgiving people who have hurt us, isn't it? We don't want to
let go of the painful memories of abuse, put-downs, broken promises, harsh
words, family or work offenses.
One outstanding example
of forgiveness occurred when Corrie ten Boom met a former Nazi Officer who had
abused her and her sister during imprisonment, assisting in the death of other
prisoners. He told her he had become a Christian and proceeded to ask Corrie to
forgive him. As he reached out his hand towards her Corrie resisted. Then in
obedience to God as she extended her hand towards him she felt the surge of the
Holy Spirit pour through her in a supernatural act of forgiveness.
We had a student in one
of our juvenile programs who ran away one night only to be killed in a car
wreck. The driver was a young soldier who picked this child up and went
speeding down the road. He ran off the side of the road and hit a tree,
instantly killing this 15 year old girl. Her parents forgave the driver and
even appeared in court to ask the judge that he be sentenced to Teen Challenge
for a year. The judge agreed. This young man made a commitment to Christ and
completed the program.
Accounts like this are
amazing! How could people like Corrie and these parents endure such great
injustices and then turn around and forgive the villains? Yet all they did was simply
obey the command: "forgive each other, just as in Christ God forgave you."
Ephesians 4:32
Phillip Yancey wrote:
"Forgiveness is another way of admitting, I'm human, I make mistakes, I want to
be granted that privilege and so I grant you that privilege."

 Training Staff using the
iTeenChallenge.org website New Staff Training Schedules available With
over 100 staff training courses now available on the iTeenChallenge.org
website, it can be a challenge trying to determine where to start. We now have
11 different suggested schedules of training for you and your staff. There is a
link to this part of the website from the iteenchallenge.org home page. Here
is a list of some of the training schedules now available online: 1. New
staff orientation (for all staff) 2. Basic
Training - Residential Program Staff 3. Teacher Training - Group Studies for New Christians 4. Teacher Training - Personal Studies for new Christians 5. Administrative Staff Training - Leadership 6. Executive Leadership 7. On-going Staff TrainingStaff Training in Jamaica | The
courses currently available will require an experienced staff at your ministry
to teach these courses. At the present time, most of these courses do not
include a course packaged as a "self-study" course. Our long range goals are to
add a "self-study" option to all the core courses. These
suggested training schedules have been created based on courses currently
available on this website. We will be adding new courses in the months ahead
and updating the suggested training schedules to include these new courses. Please
note that not all courses currently available are included in the 11 suggested
staff training schedules. So you are free to include other courses. To

Setting up a Local Center or National
Training Schedule for your ministry One of the keys to the future success of your ministry is establishing and
implementing a systematic process for training all your staff and volunteers.
The primary responsibility for staff training rests on the leadership of the
local Teen Challenge center.
Brazil Staff Training | Global Teen Challenge sees its role as assisting your center in providing
training materials which you can download from the website: iTeenChallenge.org We are also available to consult with you on
this subject as you set up the staff training schedule for your center.
Your ministry needs to assign one of your key staff the responsibility of
setting up and running the staff training program for your ministry. This
training needs to be systematic, starting with new staff as soon as they join
your ministry.
