Finding God's purpose for your life, by Dr. Jerry Nance
Over the past 30 years of my life I have had the joy and challenge of having many jobs and working with many leadership personalities. My jobs varied in my teen years from mowing yards, to working in a shoe store, and delivering Pepsi Cola. I was a dish-washer in a summer camping program. In college I parked cars in restaurants, served as a weekend youth pastor and sold shoes during holidays. Each of these jobs provided me an opportunity to learn processes, people, business and ministry. I have had the joy of working with several pastors, two evangelists and for the past 19 years served a Teen Challenge Board of Directors made up of business men and pastors. I have in most cases enjoyed working with the different personalities and learning the different ways of operating a church and a ministry. I believe the diversity of jobs was important for me to gather the experience that God had in mind for my life's work. Often times I asked God why I did not have the privilege of working in one place for a long period of time. I have come to realize that God has a master plan for our lives and He designs the experiences He wants us to enjoy on the journey of life. I know sometimes it seems He must not care much for us, but the truth is, He loves us and He knows what we need. God also knows the proper amount of pressure that needs to be applied to get us to follow His will. In Philippians 2:13 the Bible tells us, "it is God who is at work in us, both to will and to do His good purpose." God is at work in us. God has a purpose for you and He wants you to live and operate in His purpose. You are the only one who knows whether or not you are operating in His purpose for your life. If not, God will put the pressure on you to drive you to that place of brokenness so you can find His purpose. God loves you and He has your best interests in mind. Know that He cares for you and your situation. Keep faithful, live in obedience to His will and walk faithfully in His commandments and you will find peace. You leadership will have greater impact and you will walk in confidence. May God richly bless you, Jerry Nance President Global Teen Challenge

Expansion of iTeenChallenge.org website, Gregg Fischer
In the last few days we have expanded the website at www.iTeenChallenge.org to include the "Resources" section. Now all three major parts of this website are operational
Staff Training
Student Curriculum
Resources
We have only just begun to upload materials in the Resources section, but you can see the major tracks that will have resources uploaded in the weeks ahead.
The first track, R01: Helping Family Members with Problems, has over 30 resources already loaded. These can be used to help family members with a loved one who is struggling with an addiction.
The resources in this first track can also be used as special projects for the Personal Studies for New Christians classes, dealing with some of the different areas students need to grow: Renewing your mind, Restoring Trust, What are your Triggers?, Dealing with Shame, and many more. You will find these under the different Topics of Track R01.
Our vision is to have a wide variety of Resources that can be used in all areas of the Teen Challenge ministry in these 14 different Resource Tracks. So if you have any articles, schedules, descriptions, or other resources that would fit into any of these Tracks, please send them to us. We are also looking for Resources in multiple languages. The Student Curriculum Track We now have 12 of the Group Studies for New Christians (GSNC) courses in Spanish on the Student Curriculum Track. Both student materials and the teacher's manual are available to you for download. Please note that the tests and test answer keys are only available by email request. This is to prevent students from downloading these items. We are also in the process of uploading the French and Portuguese versions of the GSNC courses. We also have 7 of the GSNC in Chinese that are being prepared for uploading. "What's New" Feature We will soon be adding to the Home page of the website a new section called "What's New." You will be able to see what new materials have been added to the website in recent days in each of the three major areas-Staff Training, Student Curriculum, and Resources. We need your help! As we continue to develop this website, our primary goal is to provide you with materials that will help you and your ministry be more effective. So please let us know how you are using these materials. If you find mistakes or if you see a bad translation, please email us and let us know. We also want to know what materials you would like to see translated first, so please give us your suggestions. You can email us at gtc@Globaltc.org

This Executive Leaders training targets senior leaders and expands the training we offer for TC centers around the world. Top of Page |
Global Internships in the Czech Republic, by Michael McGarvey
How would you like to do ministry today in the shadow of a godly leader who was burned at the stake 600 years ago? In the early spring of 1415 the Bohemian scholar and campus pastor of the University of Prague was burned alive at the stake by the religious leaders because he believed that salvation was found through faith, not works, and that the doctrine of the Church should be based upon Scripture alone. Over a hundred years after John Huss was martyred, his teachings began to spread across Europe through the work of Martin Luther and Ulrich Zwingli. During this time a small group of Bohemian twenty-somethings gathered in Hernhut, Germany, to escape the persecution. It was in the fall of 1727 that a group of 48 men and women gathered together to pray in a small chapel in Hernhut, on the estate of the wealthy German reformer, Count Zinzendorf. They started praying that night and the Holy Spirit showed up. They came to be known as the Moravians, and they carried on their newly founded 24-hour prayer movement for over 100 years without ceasing. God poured out an unbelievable zeal for reaching the world with his message to the point that during this time, groups of Moravians, empowered by the Spirit, would sell themselves into slavery in order to travel to the far reaches of the world to share the Gospel. Ironically, today a statue of John Huss sits in the heart of Prague, Czech Republic. The Czech Republic is the center of a continent where much of the Gospel has been forgotten. However, just a few miles from where that statue stands there is a church being started by a Teen Challenge center, reaching the lost and searching. This summer 3 college students went as Teen Challenge Global Interns to spend three months with Teen Challenge Czech Republic. During this time they served in various capacities at the Teen Challenge center, from helping to prepare dinner to leading small group sessions with the students. They also reached out to people living in abandoned train stations and subway tunnels, providing them with food, water, and blankets for the cold evenings. The students also ministered in the Teen Challenge church and served with the Children's m inistry near downtown Prague. Today, more than ever, we need young people with the zeal of John Huss and the Moravians. The fact is, just like the young Moravians dedicated themselves to the mission of sharing the Gospel, the future of Teen Challenge rests in the hands of the next generation experiencing the mission first hand and being mentored by the directors and workers in the field now. This is our investment. If you are interested in going on an internship or investing in the future of Teen Challenge by hosting an intern please contact the TC Global Internship office at: (706) 596-8731 or gi@teenchallengeusa.com .

Teen Challenge Alumni Website
The website www.TeenChallengeAlumni.org is a place for Teen Challenge alumni (TCA) to connect with each other and strengthen each other in Christ through small groups and other means. One of the weakest links in Teen Challenge is the aftercare provided to those men and women after they complete the residential program. One simple step all TC centers can do is inform their students and graduates of this website and explain how it can help them. TCA is a grassroots organization made up of those who are graduates of Teen Challenge Centers with the purpose of preventing relapse and building a stronger community. The website features an alumni locator and a devotional blog. The website offers information on starting a Teen Challenge alumni support group. The Resources section contains lessons for use in a TCA support group. Each weekly lesson contains two resources-Part A is the teacher lesson plan, and Part B is a Daily Exercises sheet with 5 daily activities for personal follow-up on that lesson. Currently there are 29 lessons available, with plans to soon offer 52 lessons. Here are just a few of the topics covered:
Lesson 1: Accountability
Lesson 2: Sexual Integrity
Lesson 3: The Danger of Secrets
Lesson 4: Our Part, God's Part
Lesson 5: The Presence of God
Lesson 6: Tow the Line
Lesson 7: Battling Desires
Lesson 8: Forgiving Others
Lesson 9: The Busy Lie
Lesson 10: Finding Identity in Christ
Lesson 11: The Loving Hurt
Lesson 12: Worship in Truth
These sessions deal with a variety of issues relevant to TC alumni. But they are also a resource that can be used in your Teen Challenge program with current students. These sessions could be used for a support group session, especially for students nearing their completion of the program. These sessions can also be used in the Personal Studies for New Christians classes as special projects to deal with a particular need that a student may have. These materials were originally developed by Tim Batty for a TC Alumni support group that he led at Teen Challenge in Detroit, Michigan. Other Teen Challenge centers around the world have also started TC Alumni support groups.
