Introduction
How can we understand the complex realm of relative dualism and the confusing realm of Samsara?* How can understanding this help us transform suffering into happiness? And what does this tell us about the path to realizing non-dual awareness, Absolute Truth and Absolute Enlightenment? The key to understanding these questions is in understanding our own thinking.
Devatara Holman shares a perspective on these questions and the role of our thinking from the view of Buddhist medicine and the Emei Linji Chan Lineage. She will provide a brief history of the lineage and provide an in-depth, simplified explanation of Taiji (dual) and Wuji (non-dual) states. Devatara will then take us from the abstract to the very practical by illustrating how dualistic thinking gives rise to form, and how this is relevant to physical health, emotional happiness and the awakening to full enlightenment in this very life.
* Sanskrit term referring to the sufferings of daily life arising from the occluded, dualistic mind, and which causes the endless cycle of death and rebirth.
Workshop
In the practical portion of the evening, Devatara will lead the group in exercises to remove previous thinking and previous Karma from the body-mind. Through these methods we can gain greater understanding of the boundless capacity of our minds, heal the body and delete illness, the result of previous dualistic thinking, thereby uncovering our own true nature of blissful, non-dual awareness. Students will learn to effect self healing with sacred healing sounds, and to delete physical illness and disturbing emotions in self and others.
