Chef Demo 11am -
The Dam Cafe

Jeff and Jeanne Schlosser of The Dam Cafe on Main Street will be cooking up fresh corn pancakes with peach, plum and cilantro salsa. "I grew up eating our local corn," says Jeff, who trained at the Culinary Institute. "This is a tasty way to serve vegetables for brunch along with whatever fruit is ripe and ready for a salsa. Maynard's has plenty of plums and peaches this week, so that's what I'm serving."

Heather Ridge Farm
"We believe a grass-based farm is better for the animals, better for the farmers, better for the environment and better for the consumers," say Carol Clement and John Harrison, who own and operate Heather Ridge Farm in Preston Hollow, NY. Their cattle and lamb are entirely grass fed (with no chemical fertilizers used on the pastures), and their pigs, chickens and turkeys eat fresh grass supplemented with custom-made natural grain mix. The farm also produces natural honey that tastes of mountain wildflowers, heirloom apple blossoms, wild thyme, wild berries, and heather. No wonder it was rated the best honey in the Hudson Valley by Hudson Valley Magazine!
New this year, Heather Ridge brings in lunch sandwiches and chili dogs made fresh at their on-farm café, The Bee's Knees. In addition to the Saugerties Farmers Market, Heather Ridge sells its products - including wool from their sheep and soap and candles from their honey and beeswax - at the farm store. If you call or e-mail ahead, they'll bring special orders to you at the market. They accept major credit cards, too.
