ATTENTION ALL AMCS FAMILIES: Kindergarten Round Up for the 2012-2013 school year begins this week for current school families. We are anticipating full classes so if you have a prospective kindergarten student who is NOT currently enrolled in our AMCS Preschool, PLEASE contact the school office as soon as possible to schedule your student's screening at 720-842-5400.

Referral Program

Did you know we have a  Referral Program where families can earn $1000.00 per enrolled student (up to $3000.00) for referring new students to Ave Maria Catholic School?

THANK YOU-THANK YOU-THANK YOU!

1st Annual Children's Gala-A big thank you to our HSA, especially our chairpersons; Magda Contos, Julie Chan, and Joan Quinn and all of the volunteers who planned this wonderful event for our children-it was a huge success and fun was had by all!

11th Annual "Angels Among Us" Benefit Event- A big thank you to all of you who volunteered your time, talent, and donated treasures in support of our 11th Annual Benefit Event with special thanks to our illustrious co- chairs, Don and Christine Billings! This was by far the biggest and most successful event yet.   We are still wrapping up loose ends and hope to have final figures available to announce very soon!

School Reach

Right before Thanksgiving Break we sent information to all of our families regarding a telephone broadcast system we are implementing-School Reach Instant Parent Contact. In an effort to enhance communication, this will be utilized to notify all households and parents within minutes of an emergency or unplanned event. So far we have created our data using the information provided by you on TeacherEase during registration. We will do a test this week which will give us direct feedback regarding successful contact with each household. You will be sent an email ONLY if we experienced a failure to reach you and at which time we will request updated information.

Toy Drive begins on November 28

Student Council is collecting toys!  The collected items will be donated to the Parker Task Force and will be distributed to families in the Parker, Elizabeth, and surrounding areas this Christmas Season.

Suggested gifts: Books, Toys,  Games, etc.

Please drop off all unwrapped donations at the front entrance of the school no later than December 12th.

Lunch News Regarding Snow Days

A Note from Our Kids Our Schools about Snow Days:

The winter is upon us! And with it, the possibility of No School Snow Days.

We understand there was some confusion about the Snow Day policy that affected us all on Wednesday, November 2. As a reminder, our website says: Typically there are 1-2 snow days a year. School Snow Days (no school) are usually not known until after lunches are already prepared or in the process of being prepared and are therefore not reimbursed.

We realize that there was some uncertainty at Ave Maria about what happens on a No School Snow Day, so we are making an exception and waiving the policy for this past Snow Day. Anyone who had ordered lunches for November 2nd, will receive a credit to their account for the full amount of their lunch.

With the hundreds of lunches Whole Foods prepares for us each day, we have consumed their refrigeration room where all the meals are prepared and the lunches are stored until they are picked up for delivery. Once they have been picked up, the Prep Foods chefs begin preparing for the next day's lunches-labeling the bags, preparing chicken, eggs and other ingredients to be made into egg and chicken salad. The chicken nuggets alone are a four hour process as they are made from fresh whole chickens and hand breaded. The free range antibiotic and hormone free turkey from a family ranch is cubed.   Fruits and vegetables are gathered for fresh preparation for your students. Our fresh food offering requires considerable logistics in a limited space.

As discarding the lunches is wasteful, we have made agreements with Whole Foods for you to pick up your lunches at the Highlands Ranch Whole Foods. Lunches that are not picked up by 1:00 will be donated to a women's or homeless shelter.

Thank you for supporting and ordering healthy and delicious lunches for your child that also helps support Ave Maria Catholic School.

Sincerely,
